and this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet...586015544QQrdZ1 Lots of other nice Z/28's on ebay today (except the one for $140K) |
Re: I love this car!
The X77 car is fake. The X33 car looks pretty nice at first glance but have to check it out. I like the detailed shot of the vin by the oil filter as most dont know what it looks like....

Re: I love this car!
Sam,
That's a bummer about the X77. I am always amazed by the depth of the knowledge on this site. How can you tell? |

Re: I love this car!
The ad doesn't mention clone anywhere and the implication is the seller is familiar with the restoration so he should know. I guess I should stop being so surprised when this happens. When I finally get my funds together I will certainly check with you guys first. Only three college educations to go!

Re: I love this car!
Also, the X77 has a ducted hood. All Camaros before January of '69 had flat hoods. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif
Today, all first gen cars have ducted hoods. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif I have a friend in our Club the wants to give away the flat hood off his '68 because nobdy wants to buy it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif Go figure. |

Re: I love this car!
I think the hoods and spoilers were probably a popular mod even when these cars were new. My old '69 Z/28 had both when i bought it in '75 even though the serial # was under 5000. It had the long spoiler.

Re: I love this car!
The green fake X-77 car was discussed before.
The white X-33 car is nice but to be picky, "The RS/Z28 DZ Carburetor is all original", no it's not. Rick H. |
Re: I love this car!
Why does Ebay let people commit fraud like that? But, then again, who but you guys would know? Oh well, at least the great car is going to a great person.
I think ebay should take crap like that more seriously. |

My local newspaper can't police "for sale" ads in regard to the authenticity of the item listed. A swap meet organizer can't monitor everything sold by every vendor. We all have to do our own homework and use resources like this board. |
Re: I love this car!
The ZL-1's had ducted hoods in december. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: I love this car!
Kim, not to be too picky, but the first ZL1 was delivered on Dec. 31, 1968. New Years Eve. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
Very late on New Years Eve. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |

Re: I love this car!
Don't mean to take sides here but don't we generally refer to "January cars" as being 'produced' in January. For a car to be delivered in December, it would most likely have to be 'produced' in December.
And if I recall correctly, there were two ZL-1s delivered before the end of the year, December 31st. Let's check the production dates on some of the other ZL-1s. |
