Nova wasting away

1 Attachment(s)
Well I have been talking with the original owner of a triple black SS L78 Nova for 11 years. It was outside then and still outside, although I have pleaded with him to push it into his barn. He ordered it from Village Chevrolet in Queens and has put just over 21K miles on the car. It was ordered with L78, M21, 410, defogger, buckets f&r guards, and vinyl top. Triple black one of my favories. Another year passes and it still sits outside. Still will not sell it....what a shame! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

What a waste. I cannot tell from the picture what is the Red With Black Vinyl top sitting next too it?

Steve...Do you know how much he has been offered for it. Mabey not enough yet.

Re: Nova wasting away

I doubt anyone else has even seen the car. He lives alone and is quite isolated. I am still hopeful... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif

Hey, You never know. One day your phone may ring and it will be him. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Tell him the price will include mowing down the weeds also..
That is a shame, could be a cool car.
Maybe money does not motivate him, trade him a car/truck. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Nova wasting away

Was it his personal car? Maybe the car belonged to his son and something happened to him?
Its a shame to see it just sit there... only time will tell!

Re: Nova wasting away

He bought it new, and ordered it exactly the way he wanted.
He is a nice guy, who thinks he will eventually put the car on the road. I believe I will have an opportunity to save the car from further deterioration real soon. I know one thing...I won't give up.

Keep trying Steve, looks like a nice find, there are so many original owners like this guy, and not sure why.

That looks brand new compared to the 68 396 auto I just saw..

Re: Nova wasting away

take a new tarp over there and ask if he would mind if you covered it up for the winter...he may appreciate that you think enough of the car to at least protect it from the weather. he obviously still likes the car and may just need to know you plan to love it as much as he does..now leaving it in a field is weird if you really like something..but that is what that generation did when they parked a car. Just a idea. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif

Steve,
Were you able to see the engine?

Re: Nova wasting away

You read my mind. I went to home depot and purchased a tarp which I hope to install tomorrow.

Re: Nova wasting away

I looked at the engine back in 1994. He installed a 427 short block. The orig shortblock is in his basement and all correct.

Re: Nova wasting away

See if he'll let you jack it up and maybe put the tarp on the ground under the car too? . Hope the interest in the preservation of his car helps make it yours someday? ~ Pete

Good idea.Bring him a nice hot bowl of homemade soup and bread and butter him up with that...maybe he's just hungry? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Weeds? To the owner that's landscaping! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Yeah, it's a shame to see a car like that sit and fall apart. But it's probably a situation where he ordered it like that and just can't part with it. Wish he would have covered it better like you said Steve.

By now that floor will be gone.

Re: Nova wasting away

That is a major concern of mine. Remarkably the outside sheetmetal looks OK. The floors, rockers and trunk are sure to be a problem.
