Nobody figured this out yet https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif

(Can you see the heater core sticking through the firewall?)

I see a dual exhaust weld plate on the rear frame rail...
My guess is a 396, at least a Sport Sport...

or was that on the driver's side...?

Re: What engine was in this Nova?

It's a '70 Nova SS, 396/375, a/t on the column, bench seat, rubber mat, with F41 suspension!

If you look close, you can see the heater core pipes sticking through where the center of the heater box would be (I got the box cover, but it was swiss cheese after I blasted it - saved the 'AS' plate though).

If you look close at the lower pic, you will see the single fuel line. I dug out the lower spring plates for F41 cars, and crawled into the trunk to chisel out the frame brackets https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Marlin... can you shed some light on the exhaust weld bracket please. I am just curious for my own Nova education. Thanks.

Re: What engine was in this Nova?

The extra bracket will be on the driver's side, not the passenger side, just like the Camaro's. I never looked at the driver's side of this car, It's the 4th car up in a 5 car wall surrounding this junkyard - and it was hard enough to climb up to the 4th car, I had to swing out over this 'cliff' of a Buick Lesabre. I nearly had a heart attack when I got up there - FG, 731 interior, 06A, had seen the single fuel line & rear sway bar stuff from the ground, so this thing had Deuce all over it. Then I saw the BB heater box and core support, figured I might as well make the climb worth something! Came back later for the F41 brackets, they are probably useless too, but.... it was fun. I took the trim tag off of it because of date irregularity, but then dropped it over the other side of the wall while climbing down - oh well https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

I'll bet alot of funny things have happened to people scouring junkyards. When I was a kid my dad and I were looking for something in a junkyard and all of the sudden there was this big german shepard that chased my dad and took a large bite out of his as_. Real scary then but real funny now, thinking back on it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

This junk yard has sheep in it, (have at it you jokers https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif ), the owner keeps the sheep so he doesn't have to mow the aisles! I turned around and there were some sheep staring at me - frightening, I think they were from the midwest farms somewhere https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

Marlin,

Did you use "colorful" language when you dropped the trim tag ?? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: What engine was in this Nova?

I'm not sure the word 'colorful' came out of my mouth, maybe 'get out of here Casey' or 'what the schoneye' - the first word may have had 4 letters... I don't remember https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
