1967 Camaro Wheels
I was wondering if the 1967 Camaro was available with the painted wheels and dog dish caps like the '69? I like that look and I have a '67 Camaro I am restoring but I don't want to do it if it wasn't factory.

Re: 1967 Camaro Wheels
Yes, from what I am told, but the Dog Dish caps were a little different than the 68-9's. (I just asked this question recently)

Yes and they look real good. Everybody has rally's or aftermarket wheels but you rarely see painted wheels and dog dish caps on a 1967 Camaro. Here is a picture of my car before I switched back to ...yes rally's.

Re: 1967 Camaro Wheels
Great! The only thing I could think of was the full wheel covers. Were these 14" only? Also, does anyone repro these caps or know where I can get a set? I have a set of the small '67 style rally caps if anyone wants to trade.
What about tires? Redline only or could you get white letters? I am doing a Baldwin-Motion clone but nothing says muscle to me than painted wheels. |
Re: 1967 Camaro Wheels
I did a search for these wheels a little while back. I put discs on my '67 so I put American Racing rims to clear the calipers. I missed the stock look of the dog-dish caps that my car came with (that I stupidly tossed!!) so I got a set of disc brake steel wheels and did a search for the style of hubcaps shown above. Nobody repros them, but you should be able to find in a junkyard or ebay (where I got mine). They came on '14 rims for Camaros, Novas and Chevelles in '67. The '66 dog dish caps are very similar but painted a little different.

Re: 1967 Camaro Wheels
The 1966 dog dishes found on Chevelles have a black center with a chrome bowtie. Not correct for the Camaro. As mentioned this style dog dish is not reproduced and if you want a mint or close to mint set they can be pricy. I searched a long time until I found a set that were very close to show quality.
I might be interested in trading my dog dishes for the 67 rally centers if they are GM. I have set of repop center caps right now but want GM. Let me know. Rick H. |

Hey Rick,
I believe these are factory GM caps. I have had them for many years and they are close to perfect. I don't see any scratches or dings. The letter and bow tie paint will need to be redone. I would love to trade if you are interested. |

Re: 1967 Camaro Wheels
back caps are beat..cant tell on the ones lying down,,,buying caps of ebay is tough..unless the guy says he will stand behind them most are not worthy of a driver when you get them in your hands.

Re: 1967 Camaro Wheels
Jason,
I am on business trip until next Wednesday and will let you know. The dog dishes caps I have are in great condition. No offense but I really want as close to mint as possible for the rally center caps. I don't want to have to paint them if possible. I'll think it over until then. Rick H |
Re: 1967 Camaro Wheels
I didn't look close enough at them to see if they needed painting or not I just assumed you would repaint the letters. I know they still have paint on them but the condition of the paint wasn't looked at closely.
