I usually went with firecrackers, eventually graduated to a .22LR https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Same here...firecrackers...or the black powder from the firecrackers and the occasional bottle rocket rammed through the broken windows...

Actually...Gary was the one doing this...I just watched! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

I stayed away from the bottle rockets. Another guy (nameless) lit one off, went across the street, through their living room window, bounced off their plate glass mirror and lit the rug on fire https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif

By the way BP stands for "blister pack", the original packaging the cars came in. Actually I still have all 100+ of my family's HotWheels including a purple OpenFire, the same model in the auction, which was part of the 1971 model line. It's not in its original wrapper but in very nice shape otherwise. It is amazing what these babies are going for now.

Re: 66K for a Hot Wheels ????????

It is amazing... but they are worth so much because we blew them up with firecrackers and bottle rockets... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif

We used to knock the rear windows out of them and then jam a bottle rocket in the back set them on the orange track with a jump to try to make them go really far like Burt Reynolds in Hooper... HOT WHEELS https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Swinging over to collecting these would sure solve the garage problems! .

Seriously, that's serious dough! .
I never had that 'Ivo' Gremlin myself but sure had my fun on Christmas mornings and know my old box of 'em is here somewhere too? .
The original Sizzlers Mach was the only Mustang I've ever owned and I know it's here in the box...anyone still have a Juice Machine? .

I know this is off topic but I thought I would share the Bottle Rocket and Drunken Neighbor story.
A friend of mine went down to his shore house for a holiday weekend and his next door neighbor decided
to have a party and fireworks display. A bottle rocket went astray and went through my friends window
and according to witnesses proceeded to bounce around the room and set the house on fire. They arrived
home to find their home burnt to the ground. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

I was weaned on the first redlined HotWheels as well,so a few years ago for Christmas,my sisters,(who ended up destroying every single one of my HotWheels eventually https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif),got me a VideoTape compilation of all the HotWheels commercials ever made from 1968-1988.
That 70's swingin music, vibrant graphics and campy kid actors they used for these during our Saturday morning cartoons are still as memorable to me today as those cars were back then. http://www.thefunfare.co.uk/images/supp_hotwheels.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

When we were small, we had el-cheepo toy cars that are selling
for major bucks today.

When we started to drive, we had cheep performance cars
that are selling for major bucks today. History repeats itself https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Re: 66K for a Hot Wheels ????????

I guess we were crazy when we were kids. We played with every toy we ever got. And the first thing we did was take them out of the packaging. We would leave stuff outside in the rain and things would get run over by bikes or cars. So I don't need to go looking for any hidden treasures at my parent's house. Collectibles have value to the right person(s) no matter what they are. Does anyone know what a can of "Billy Beer" goes for?
