I stumbled accross a post about the JJ 69 ZL1 camaro here a while back...
on this site..but now can no longer find the post.. I was visiting with Steve Kanuika last weekend..and the subject of this car came up... Steve was wondering what ever happend to that car...? I thought a few guys new of its wareabouts..? and i remember pics of it in Yellow paint..? anyway.. If you guys have an new data or stories post them please. Ill forward to to Steve.. by the way... Steve Kanuika set the class record in that car.....cant remember if it was et or speed ? but in 1969 he drove that car to a "10.395 136.54 Steve Kanuika Jungle Jim ZL-1 69 Camaro PRO PA 1969" it stood for a while.. cheapst. https://www.yenko.net/attachments/254...ekanuikajj.jpg |

Based on the photos in that magazine feature I do not believe Jungle Jims car was a factory ZL1.

Thats true,
I worked there in the later 70's and man did I get a bunch of neat parts off some of the cars they raced and throw away parts off cust cars. If I could only have it back or had kept it Drums full of smog, holleys and exhaust manifolds not to mention the stuff guys never picked up. A good friend of mine ended up with the truck. One summer party at Steve's house they made me drop the headers on my LS-6 and take everyone for rides terrorizing his neibors, yes that was my daily driver with 4:56 gears made 462 rear wheel HP on their chassis dyno , one the perks of working there. I dont know the validaty of the factory ZL1 or not.. i did notice that a car...described as the jj car ...was shown with a vynl top..? i dont see that on the original? any pics of that car on track ...would be cool to see? heck anything that might have these vehicles would be worth lookin at.. [/ QUOTE ] No I am wrong..thats the Willy's early on... but he had a Chevy pu...wich appearently was his real love.. 53/54 ?..id like to find a picture of that...My old man had a b/w of it...i cant find it.. you would know it ..by the large head pipe extensions....Steve used cut down drive shaft pipe as extensions...and they where very obvious under the chassis. that truck held alot of memories..for him....as he Explained it.. cheapst. |

Clare Sanders partnerd with J/J for a short while and drove his match cars...some of the famous pics ..Clare was actually driving..(not all ..but a few)
