Atlantic City Auctions - 1980's
[b] The auctions in Atlantic City over Presidents weekend used to be held in the old
Convention Center. The same stage that Bert Parks sang to Miss America would hold the cars that we love. There was a certain charm when the auctions were there that the new center just can't carry off. Spaces were a lot cheaper then and anyone could afford to get a spot on the floor to sell their car or parts. There were bargains to be had, deals and finds to be made. Not that the newer shows aren't good, its just so commercialized and expensive now you don't get the variety of regular guy stuff. Its mostly the big time parts vendors selling repop merchandise. [b] Fireball 500 movie car by Barris Customs - 66 Plymouth Barracuda - 426 Hemi 4 spd.
This car was found rotting behind an auto body shop in NJ and was restored in the mid eighties. There was nothing like grabbing a few hot dogs,maybe a pretzel and watching the cars cross the block from the balcony. The new place will never have the same charm as the old convention center.

killer cars, lots of them looked top shelf...the black 67 was really nice but the 67 vert in the line of cars has my attention any more on it???

SUPER COOL PICS!!! Brings me WAY back to when i was real young and my dad used to take me for the swap meet! I miss the old convention center..... haven't been to the show since they went to the new one.
