LS6 engine on ebay

Is the code CRR on this block 1970 only? Could this be a 1971 dated LS6? The ebay # is #120124977308

according to my info yes the CRR is only a 70 suffix not 71,he states the date code B 7 71,, the seller might be mistaken on something I don't get it

If his "show" cars looked as rough as the exterior of this engine I would hate to see his non "show" cars.

even the motor photos don't look correct , in the complete shot looks to have the high rise intake like the 163 , yet the intake shows the lowrise casting # 569,, go figure

I had a 72 396 with a 70 L78 code on the front pad last year. Consensus here was it was a marine engine, which I believe. This is probably the same case. The 163 intake was probably the one that came with the marine intake. The seller says the other(70-71 LS6) intake is also included.

This motor is just a CE assembly. I had a casting date of 1972 with a CRR coded assembly. It happened to use the 1972 casting number block, but it had all the correct internals and was a T0422CRR pad stamping.

Ther were plenty of assembled engines sold over the counter in the early seventies that had codes . You could buy a complete LS-6 for No Money. They sold all of the engines that way. L-79's were like 370.00 for a complete longblock back then. There a lot more engines out there than You may think, That goes for all of them.

Yep, that 'CRR' block stamping was used up until about 1972. Why they weren't stamped 'CE' like most other crate engines, I don't know. I currently have one of these 1972 CRR LS-6's in my '55 Chevy Gasser. It happens to be a '289' casting for the cylinder case but also has the closed chamber, rect. port cylinder heads and pancake aluminum intake manifold with all 1972 casting dates.

That's just like what I had in a 1970 LS5 Corvette that I wanted so badly to be a 1970 LS6. I had the same '289' casting numbered block also.
