Where is #17 69 IPC Z11
1 Attachment(s)
Where and who owns the #17 69 pace car? I spoke with Rich Straub when he placed it on Ebay this past winter and missed out on the car. I have a REAL 71 Cuda Convert that I offered to swap Rich (a Mopar Guy) for his car. He definitely had strong interest, but The Jerk that has my Cuda never sent me updated pics (out of state) and drug his feet on the resto repairs and screwed me out of the swap/sale. Rich told me the guy that bought it lives in to Indiana. Its not a great car, but I've been eyeing this car for 12 yrs now. I still have the video tape of the car when it was offered to me back in 95 for 16,500. I'm never at the right place at the right time:( any and all help would greatly be appreciated. Oh, btw, the Cuda is further along and getting a new cloth top on it any day now. I want to swap my 7 for the #17 car or a legit 67 IPC with docs. Mine is a Rock Solid Rust free car with history from England

Re: Where is #17 69 IPC Z11
A quick Google resulted in this chunk of message..."My car is an original Z11 Camaro #17 Official Pace Car"...leading to this site below..
http://www.camaro-registry.com/registry_view_page.htm I took a quick look on the site but didn't spot it...could be old or recent???. Good luck if you give it a go!. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif ~ Pete |

Re: Where is #18 69 IPC Z11
Thanks. I apreciate it. We are talking about two different cars. I screwed up and am actually looking for #18. (I got messed up on the # by reading an earlier post) Any how Rich told he owned it for roughly two yrs and purchased it out of Colo. Rich lives in MI and just sold it in Feb of this year and told me he believed it went to Seymore IN??? Can you track this one?

Re: Where is #18 69 IPC Z11
Was in WI several years ago, so it must have moved out west to Colorado, then back to IN, now maybe in TN. Really getting around. Its an L48/TH350 car with a BR posi rear axle and a power top.

Did Pat sell this car again?

Re: Where is #18 69 IPC Z11
What are the issues with this car? When I originally inquired about the car it had a salvage title. When Rich Straub had it it had a Clean title. Another emailed me and told me it was a rusty car and required quite a bit of metal replacement. So I'm guessing it is in the hands of PaceCarCoral to get a quick resto and turned again???

Re: Where is #18 69 IPC Z11
I went to buy the car when it was advertised in Hemmings. I think it was 1998. It was in a town real close to Lake Geneva WI. I was dissapointed when I got there. It did have it's orig engine, but the car needed more work than I wanted to do. At least I think this is the same car. I will call you tomorrow Tom. He wanted $18,000 at the time, I offered $12,000.

Wow, hold up here fellas. I know nothing of the festival Z11 #18 car that was on ebay other than that it was interesting. I don't recall ever speaking with Rick Straub who owned the car and did not bid on or buy it on ebay nor do I own it now or know where it is. I don't own a restoration shop but do have a pole barn with a lift that I "play cars" in as my children call it https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif The Greg Wilson name mentioned earlier in the thread is a another local Z11 owner here in town. He doesn't have it either? I do now own an L34 Z11 and a L35 0-1 IPC among others including the sweet 68 corvette bronze L35 RS/SS that Van sold me a few years ago (pictures soon Van). I did have a second L35 Z11 that I've been driving the past three years that I bought from Danny Baylis and that's the car I hired my friend Jim at Pacecarcorral to sell for me recently. I should have the L34 Z11 finished up here in the next month or so....didn't really need two. Although you guys with four or six of the same model, at;s cool too. Hope that clears things up a bit? If I hear any news on the whereabouts of #18 I'll certainly pass it on Tom.
On the subject as an interesting note, I believe that car #18 (designated as a celebrity car) was very likely assigned to none other than the notorious O.J. Simpson. I had posted a photo of the "J" boys, A.J. & O.J awhile back but will stick it on again. I wonder if he kept a pair of gloves in the glove compartment hmmmm? As for the #17 car that several Z11 owners think might be the festival number of their car. From what I have found it seems that a group of Z11 cars that can be traced back to Indianapolis during the month of May of 1969 have the #17 painted on the heater core cover in the engine compartment. I don't know why several cars would have the same number in the same location but it was most likely a tracking mark for speedway officials to return unattended loaner vehicles to the proper location? |
