L-78 comparison

Any ideas on price/value comparisons between L78 Camaros vs L78 Chevelles?

Re: L-78 comparison

I'll get this one started. All things equal (condition, originality, paperwork, features, paint color, transmission, provenance, etc.) Camaros will have a higher market value. How much? I would say the Camaro would be about 20% more, i.e. a theoretical Chevelle L78 selling for $70K would compare to a similar Camaro at $85K. This is a comparison only not a market analysis.

O.K. now, let me step out of the frag pattern here https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif ... let her rip fellas! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

I think we need to at the very least designate a model year to compare the two, unless I missed that part?

How about '68 to '68 and '69 to '69?

Re: L-78 comparison

This should be interesting. Styling is going to play a big factor here. If we compare years that both were built. For 1967 I think the Camaro wins by a large margin. For 1968 I think the gap is closer, because the styling on the Chevelle has come up a notch closer to Camaro. For 1969 I think the Chevelle / Camaro styling is both good, but the Camaro is definitely the favorite, hands down. For 1970, I think the Chevelle is a very handsome car and wins over the Camaro for the first time.

Re: L-78 comparison

I would say the 67 Chevelle L78 would be worth more than a 67 L78 Camaro because of production numbers but who knows. As for the 68-70, the Camaro seems to bring the higher numbers probably because of popularity.

I agree with this.

Phil, hope all is well. You should come to Chicago for Mecum in Oct.

Hi John, things are good just can't get caught up. Would like to make it up but unlikely at this point. Is that one of Mecum's better auctions? I still have a couple of coupes I intend to sell.

Phil, i would say it's their flagship. They used to call it "premier". Usually alot of nice muscle, probably close to BJ in terms of quality muscle. Might be a good opportunity to sell your coupes. Dana Mecum does a nice job, works with you and allows reserves. As a buyer or a seller it would be my choice.

Phil, Dana does a great job @ both spring & fall auctions, but i feel the fall auction brings out some great buys, that's my opinion. Phil,What are the coupes you intend to sell. Thanks

Re: L-78 comparison

I'm going to sell or trade my '70 Hemi Challenger and '70 GSX. I took the GSX to the Mecum auction in FL in Jan with a W-30 rag. The Olds sold but the Buick didn't. I may also sell one of my Camaro L-78 rags but I'm not sure on that. Still looking for a '68-'69 Chevelle L-78 rag.
