Those lines of your Chally are terrific. Don't hurt having that nice side stripe to draw the eye to it. Very, very nice. As Napoleon said to his brother, Kip, "Luck-eeeeeeee!"

Previous owner had a shop weld top half of a 1/4 to the lower part. Note the seam weld from iside the trunk space. That won't work for me so... http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y8/...21207_0_BG.jpg |

Re: My 1970 Challenger RT/SE
Beautiful job!!! Im curious Is this car a real RT? In your unrestored photo I see the car had a non rally dash and I always thought the Rally dash with the tach was standard on RT's. I see now that you put the correct dash in.
Nice color to boot! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: My 1970 Challenger RT/SE
Rallye dash was not standard on any of the E-bodies. Chrsyler Corp was cheap back then (and now). You had to order and pay for any option you got. You see a lot of hemicudas with the standard dash. I guess a lot of people spent their limited resources on the drivetrain purchase knowing thy were probably going to buy a set of aftermarket gauges anyway.

Re: My 1970 Challenger RT/SE
curious...what product did you use to get the "texture" back on the underbody and wheelhouses?
Awsome job all around. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif |
Re: My 1970 Challenger RT/SE
is the hood treatment and side stripes "personal touches" or were they factory options. by the way, one SSSSWWWEEEETTTTT looking E-body!!!

[/ QUOTE ] The RT stripes and the blacked out hood are original to the car. My goal was to restore it just as it left the factory according to the fender tag. The build sheet we found belong to another car and is a million pieces. |

[/ QUOTE ] That is correct but I believe that all of the SE's came standard with the Ralley gauge package. I opted to replace the standard gauge instrument package and go with what I believe is correct. A lot has been taken out of this car through the last 37 years. It was once purchased through a police auction in the '80's. |

Re: My 1970 Challenger RT/SE
Looks very nice, I love the yellow and black, I believe all RT challengers came with the rally gauges and three speed wipers, I have had several RT challengers and all of them had gauges, I also have had several TA challengers and cuda's the gauges are an option on them, and some of them didn't have gauges, but who knows what happend over the last 37 years, if you have the sheet or tag that will tell the story, but when the rally gauges are used so are the three speed wipers, either way nice car Rich

Rally clusters are different than standard clusters. Look at the panel lighting and look for tach wiring. If memory serves me correctly, the STD. clusters had only 3 panel lights and a 3 light lense above the instruments. The rally style dashes have a 4 light / 4 lense piece, above the cluster. |
