Ebay has lost thier minds
Heres the new ebay policy regarding feedback,i guess buyers dont have to pay anymore and can have a 100% rating . Should work real well https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif.................................
Important changes to Feedback Buyers, you can no longer receive negative or neutral Feedback from sellers. You should leave honest and accurate Feedback without the fear of receiving negative or neutral ratings. Don't show me this again |
Re: Ebay has lost thier minds

Re: Ebay has lost thier minds
Chuck,
I saw this for the very first time tonight and almost did a double-take! My reaction was the same as yours. What's the point of feedback if you can't call a spade a spade. I guess feedback just went PC - huh? Now children, say only nice things about one another........ https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Nuch |
Re: Ebay has lost thier minds
My thoughts exactly Chuck.
If it's deserved, leave a positive feedback, but with a scalding https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif comment. |
Re: Ebay has lost thier minds
...they do other stupid crap now too...
|
Re: Ebay has lost thier minds
Actually it was just put into effect today. I left feedback yesterday and it gave me the option of neutral or negative. Today it did not. Very stupid on ebay's part.

Re: Ebay has lost thier minds
Actually it just went into effect. It was announced months ago. The reason for it is so sellers can't give retalitory feedback if the buyer gives them bad feedback. There were also a few other changes. You now get credit for multipule feedbacks from the same buyer. My feedback rating jumped over 125 points today. Their reasoning is good but the way they tried to fix the problem sucks. Now if a buyer doesn't pay, you can't leave bad feedback. So now buyers will always have a 100% rating. I think the way they hid the bidders name is stupid too. You can't tell if there is shill bidding.

Sellers wait for a negative feedback and then blast you even though you did nothing wrong. The way the policy should be, is that once the buyer has paid a proven payment through paypal etc., then you cannot leave negative feed back. This allows a screwed buyer to post freely, and allows the victim of a dead beat the option to call out the jerk. My $.02 JOHN |
Re: Ebay has lost thier minds
I am not playing Devil's Advocate here guys but, this policy would have helped me and cost me a lot of aggravation several months ago.
I bought a 1970 Chevrolet dealer salesman's accessory booklet on e-bay from a seller who I think really "jacked me around." I sent payment for the item the next day after the auction ended via pay pal and never heard anything back from the seller. I had to e-mail the seller twice and by this time it was just over 1 month since I had secured payment for the item. The seller finally responded and alleged that his computer was "down" and it still took another 2 weeks to get the book to me in the mail. So being nice I left nuetral feedback instead of negative as to the seller. Then this jerk off seller turns around and leaves me negative feedback as a buyer which was total crap!! I did nothing wrong at all in the transaction. So I was pi$$ed and I typed up this long nasty letter to the seller and also sent it to e-bay. They finally reconcilled everything and removed the negative mark for me.. It was a real pain though... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif I do agree with you guys and saw their new protocol. I don't think it is right that a seller cannot leave a negative strike if you are dealing with a real jerk/difficult buyer because we all know they are out there!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif Rich https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: Ebay has lost thier minds
I'm not positive you can never leave negative feedback. When I saw it yesterday for the first time it read to me like you now have to file a complaint and follow a process from there. Is it possible that further down the line you are able to leave the appropriate negative feedback? If that is not an option then leave the deadbeat loser comments in the positive feedback category (ALL CAPS OF COURSE).

Re: Ebay has lost thier minds
That is also very aggrivating to me that many sellers will wait until you leave feedback about them BEFORE they leave feedback about you, even though you paid in full within the stated payment terms. Really, the whole feedback system is somewhat flawed, I think a comment section for stating how the transaction went for each party would be better. Or, as someone pointed out earlier, if the seller pays by PayPal within the allotted time, they have done their part and should receive a positive feedback rating for that transaction. Then, the pressure is on the seller to fulfill their part to ship the item to the buyer in a timely fashion and provide satisfaction after the sale.

Re: Ebay has lost thier minds
I agree with Mr. Chevy and others. Both my negative feedbacks came after I immediately paid and the item arrived damaged in a undamaged container or was not the item I bought and the sellers never resolved it. Then after doing nothing wrong I got negative feedback. The system is flawed but the old system where the seller extorts a positive or no feedback after the buyer pays is terrible.

Re: Ebay has lost thier minds
I contacted ebay regarding this whole new feedback program
as I've had a similar issue where a seller left me negative feedback after I left him neutral feedback. I bought a set of NOS 12-bolt gears for my '69 Camaro and paid immediately via Paypal. When the gear set arrived, the gears were simply sandwiched between newspaper and lying loose in the box. Talk about pi$$ed-off! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif I'm wondering what the impetus is for this change on ebay's part. It doesn't make much sense. Like I mentioned before, it's smells of PC........ https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif Nuch |
Re: Ebay has lost thier minds
I would assume the change is due to the types of situations some have described where sellers did not fulfill their end of the bargain or misrepresented things and then retaliated against a buyer who followed through on their end but had real issues.
The down side is that there are buyers out their who do not read, look, understand, pay for, etc. who also deserve to be recognized for their stellar performances. Maybe the way to handle it is to have negative feedback not show for a certain period of time to allow both parties to try to work things out. Both parties would be notified of the negative by a PM type of system. If the issues were not resolved then you could follow the established paths for handling disputes through ebay. Maybe this would take some of the knee jerk retaliation away. I think Ebay looks at business like most auction people do they provide the venue and thats it. After that they want nothing to do with the transaction. Their sales must be going down due to lack of buyer confidence combined with the threat that one would be labeled a dead beat unfairly. ??????????????????????????? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif |

Then after doing nothing wrong I got negative feedback. [/ QUOTE ] Ive received a Neg feedback 5 times so far from people that DIDNT pay for the items they won and wouldnt respond to any emails as to why. Not only did one cost me a 50K sale on a 54 corvette,he was able to leave retalitory feedback with no merit. At that time ebay said theyd remove the feedback if it was unwarranted and if i paid them 20.00 "administration fee". Call it feedback extortion if you like.I guess ebays stance is that they will do whatever the buyers want to ensure thier commissions, the flip side is the swap meets are starting to fill up with parts again because sellers dont want to deal with the BS. |
Re: Ebay has lost thier minds
I currently have 4 neutrals and 0 negatives. I don't like the fact that I cannot leave negative or even neutral feedback for deadbeat bidders. I have had 4 in the past 2 months. Ebay does not offer SELLER protection, no matter what they tell you. They will always side with the buyer if they paid on time. Ebay believes every "not as described" claim put against a seller regardless if you have "no returns" in your description or not. The entire system is flawed.

I sold a carb that I had bought on eBay about a year prior, described it as accurately as possible, stated it would need a rebuild, posted multiple pictures, stated "item sold as is"...the guy gets the carb sends me a list of issues with it and that he's upset it will need parts to be rebuilt and function properly (what parts I still don't know other than a rebuild kit)...I ask him to send pics of these issues...never get pics...eBay/Paypal decides in his favor and they refund him his money...I ask them twice for an explanation of why they reversed the transaction and never got a reply from them...I get the carb back and don't find any of these issues he whined about...GREAT service https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif...eBay = LAST RESORT!...unless it's from some I know or delt with before...where's that "eBay SUCKS" smiley?... |
