Pavillions? California style!!!
What do you do when you visit SoCal? That's right, you meet up with your friends at a car cruise!
Gary (my brother) and his son Talyor and me were invited to a car cruise called Cars and Coffee by David Lindsley (Z28DL) and we were albe to talk Mark and Bart (LateBrakeU2 and 47 Hammer respectivley) to drive down from the Malibu area to hang with us.... An original owner Nova...bought at Harry Mann. Owner has pics from the day he picked it up...through all of the mods and racing at Lions, OCIR, etc.
I actually have pics of this car at the Car Craft Street Machine Nationals from 1981...and I was just looking at them the other day. When I get home I will scan them...and post them here...! My 68 Z28 is from the same dealership as Daves L-78 Nova,Selman Chevrolet in Orange Calif. Neat to see another Hi-perf car from the same place.Looks like a great gathering of cars.

Bruce, It was nice meeting you and hearing that you remembered my car from the '80's!! Thanks for the kind words. Anyway, I don't know if my car deserves being on this cool site, but if anyone wants to see/read more about it they can check it out here - Nova Joe's Garage. I've also taken the liberty to post a picture from Lion's Dragstrip, "back in the day".

You see, I fell in love with your car the first time I saw it in the 80's. I thought it was soooo cool to have an original paint Nova...and I remember talking to you then and you telling me that you were the original owner as well. The tow tabs sent me over the edge! (All three things were burned into my memory forever) I dug out one of my photo albums...and could only find one picture from a distance of your car...when it had the "other" wheels on it! I'll have to search for the rest of them as time permits. By the way Bruce, those OCIR timeslips bring back some good memories. I only raced there a couple times and don't even have one picture of the car there. 47Hammer - sorry I missed you, but were you the one who chose me off at the light??!! I told my son that I would never race an import!! The A&W I went to was on Hawthorne Blvd. It was a really cool street to cruise on. Only time I ever made it to the Valley was when I flat towed the car there just to cruise it one night!! Wow, I can't believe the "flash-backs" I'm getting!! Great to see you at Coffee and Cars and meeting a couple of the SYC members Mark/LateBrakeU2 and Bart/47Hammer. Wish we would have had more time to talk. It blew my mind that you remembered Joe's Nova from when you saw it in 1981. If I don't see you sooner I'll see you at Barrett Jackson's next year. Glad you replied to the SYC site and the response you got is well deserved. You and your Nova are exactly what this hobby is all about. Not many guys have the car they ordered new, dragged raced and cruised in the day when these cars ruled the streets. Your still doing it in the same car today! When was the last time you ran the Nova at the drags? Also, please put the tow brackets back on the car. Just remember who's in line for the Nova! See you at one of our hangouts.
