Orig Black on White '66 Impala SS, 427/425hp, Docs

Wow - stunning car originally ordered in these colors, with the L72. Having the original car shipper document is gold.

Sounds like neither the engine (CE block) or trans are original, but for the right price I'd love to own it. Looks like it has been recently spray bombed underneath, which is a bit of a bummer.

Strange the the M20 RPO is designed "4 SPD TRANS & TACH"

A stunning combination for sure, as good as it gets for me! The rally wheels and tail pipes spoil the effect somewhat IMO.
This dealer is semi-local to me.

Tailpipes are 100% correct for the L72. They did not go to the back of the car with resonators. I agree with the rallys. Need N96 Mag caps.

Yes, I am aware of that. My comment was in reference to the tailpipes sticking down a bit too far and being cut off square, muffler shop style. :beers:

There is a lotta stuff on this car that is not on the shipper copy??

Tachometer equipped cars did not get a vacuum gauge. Tach cars received a clock where the vacuum gauge normally is in the console gauges. The dash top clock would be incorrect for this.

I noticed that as well. L72 console cars got the clock. There's a few other little things I noticed as well. I wish the pics were bigger so I could see more detail. The one thing that sticks out is the air cleaner service decal is incorrect and in the wrong place. The radiator is missing the finger guard, shouldn't have chrome valve covers, AM radio cars typically got the rear antenna (not sure if you could spec front with AM, FM was always front). In general minor things. Nice looking car. I agree about the rallys, needs N96. And yes, tailpipes are a little too long.

My old '66 Impala had an AM radio with front antenna. This was a basic Impala sport coupe.

Actually Matt, The clock is correct. The gauges have been added. On a non gauge car (which this is according to the paperwork), the tach would take the place of the standard dash mounted clock, so the clock was moved to the top of the dash as a clock was standard equipment on an Impala model in 66.

Gauges have been added. Rear antenna was 100% optional. My 68 is the same way as was my 65.
