Overall the car somewhat resembles Tom Cahills 1973 Baldwin Motion Phase III Chevelle.

copo9566aa,
You are coming up with some https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif period pictures-- https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
You don't happen to have any period pictures of Racquel Welch with stripes https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

Re: 1973 Nickey Chevelle

Hi there, I'm a new member and I joined because of my curiousity with this 1973 Nickey Chevelle. I own a 1973 SS Chevelle (not a Nickey prepared version). I'm involved in another Forum for 3rd Generation GM A bodies (1973-1977) and I came across another photo of a 73 Nickey Chevelle SS. Looks very similar to the one above, might actually be the same car, I can't make out all the digits on the front licence plate. But this newer photograph shows the hood plain with no arrow stripe.

Well here's an update: I actually found a previous owner of one of these 1973 Nickey Chevelle SS cars and I have learned a lot about them. The cars were available with 3 optional engines: a 370hp 350 sbc, a 430hp 427 bbc, and a 450hp 454 bbc. For more details please see this vintage magazine ad:

I have some cool photos of a Nickey Chevelle taken by a previous owner. This owner was not the original owner, so some things are still unknown, for example what wheels were used originally. But here is what we know that made them unique beyond the drivetrains:

-front spoiler that was underneath the front bumper
-large arrow painted on hood
-hood tach
-hood pins
-unique side striping
-rear spoiler similar to Camaro
-Nickey sticker on lower right of trunk lid

Never seen one of them before. I must say that stripe package is pretty bad; looks very home made to me.

That ad has the Nickey Chicago logo

I'm not sure of the exact date but Nickey Chevrolet became Keystone Chevrolet in about 1973.

Some of the people from Nickey Chevrolet opened a new business called "Nickey Chicago". They sold hi po parts and did some conversions

I don't mind it too much, but I would have rather seen them use Body Side Moulding Delete (B81) optioned cars, that way no factory side moulding and just the Nickey stripe by itself.

Very interesting! I did not know that, thanks.

Yesterday I went and checked out a recent addition to a local junkyard in South Jersey that I was made aware of. Has the rear spoiler so I thought "could it be a true Nickey car??" "would I be so lucky to find this?" but unfortunately it's not. No evidence of any of the other Nickey stuff, the true delineator was no evidence of hood pins in the radiator support. But fun trip to the junkyard nevertheless. The Camaro type spoiler has been added to 1973 Chevelles on occasion, as I just saw another owner's car who has done it.

If you want to see real homemade go to Friendship in Tabernacle nj and see the red one in person 😆

I've never seen these before, but I'd love to hear more about them. I'm actually a fan of the colonnade styled Malibus/Chevelles and Lagunas and the known Motion one is especially cool. Thanks for bringing these to the forefront and I look forward to hearing more about them.

clanceman427 12-09-2019 01:29 PM

that's about all I know about them, and I know one person who used to own one but by the time he got it in the 80's the original 454 was gone. Plus, I do not know what wheels they put on these cars orgininally.

Yep I know Darren, he had it in the 80's long after the 454 was gone.

Jonesy 10-21-2020 01:38 AM
