Dick Harrell 69 Camaro

Hi,
This is my first post here and it may be a bit long so bear with me.

I'm the owner of both a 67 & 69 SS Camaros and although I live in Australia, my wife is American. When my father in law heard that I was going to buy a Camaro he told me about the 69 Camaro that he bought new and told me it was a Dick Harrell camaro. He said it was just a plain jane yellow 69 with a 427, 4 speed. He told me he had some photos of it and that they were in storage but next time he was over there he would have a look for them. Well a couple of years had passed and I still hadn't seen the photos and I thought that I may never get to see it.

Well just this week a package arrived at our house with a whole heap of photos from when my wife was a child and in amongst them were 5 photos of his Camaro. Now they aren't the greatest photo's but I'm sure someone with an experienced eye will pick out some details. He's sure that he has some better photos of it but just has to find them. I've asked if he has any of the original paperwork for it and he says possibly, but he's not sure where it would be but will start looking for it.

Anyway, I won't bore you any longer and I'll post the photos up. Sorry for the poor quality but they are kind of small and old.

Re: Dick Harrell 69 Camaro

After he sent me these I asked him if he remembered anything about the car.

This is what he told me

" I bought it from Bill Allen Chevrolet in Kansas City I believe. There was only
One dealer in the area that sold these. That decal you were talking about yesterday on
The rear quarter panel was a metal "Dick Harrell" emblem. Sure wish I would have taken more
Pics of it. And I believe I paid roughly $3000.00. Then took it to his shop for an upgrade for
Headers & new exhaust system, roll bar, roll control, (that was nice), clutch, Hearst shifter, 456 rear end, traction bars, wheels & tires. That's all I can think of right now. "

This was a long time ago so his memory of it isn't great.

If only he had of kept it!......

Thanks Sam.

Hopefully he can find his documentation, or at the very least more pictures. He knows there were more, whether or not he has them anymore is another story.

Another thing. He said that a few months ago someone had contacted him out of the blue about the car after talking to his brother about it. Apparently the guy thought that he had his old car. I'm not sure of what information was passed on between them but maybe the guy is a member here or someone knows of him and he can see these pictures which I'm sure he would love.

Awesome !! Great dat two pics !!! Now the hunt begins !! Find a yellow 69 Camaro w/cowl hood and Harrell emblems on the QP's !!! Should be easy right? Probably had the quarters replaced over the years being a Northern car. Without those emblems, the car would blend in.

Probably a real COPO car also... based on the 69 Harrell Chevelle that was found a few years ago !!

These are great old photos. Thank you for sharing. Great stance and Day 2 look.

Can anyone ID the traction bars? They look different/longer than normal bolt on traction bars.

I don't think that could ever happen here especially with photos and information on a car like that. Those photos are great by the way and these stories are NEVER boring. Hopefully the car is out there and known or could be found. Thank you very much for posting! Van Chevrolet was also in the area and sold at least one Harrell car that I know of. That car also had the metal Harrell emblem on the rear quarter.
