834 ver 837
I just got a alternator from a long-ago wrecked 69 Chevelle 375 car. It's an 834, not an 837, has the deep-groove pulley and was in an attic for many years. How common was it to have 34s instead of 37s??

834 didn't use a deep groove pulley. That was the reason for having two different numbers.

Thing is, I would bet this alternator was never off this car, it was wrecked in the mid seventy's.

My 69 COPO Camaro has a 834 alternator on it that's dated perfect for the car, I've always assumed it was replaced over the years and the date was a fluke. Anything is possible I guess but it's still wrong for the car. I put a deep groove pulley on mine so it looks right and am quite content to just leave it as is since its almost to see the part # when it mounted on the car.
