Frank Dihartce

Just letting everyone know that Frank Dihartce died last month.

Frank was a research guy and knew most everything about the 1969 Z/28s, crossrams and JL8s.

Back in the early eighties it turned out Frank and I were rivals. Always competing for some cool part in HMN that related to the '69 Camaro.

About 15 years ago Frank started selling off his rare small block parts collection and he moved on to buy ZL1 #58. I was also told he had purchased another 9561 COPO that came from the same dealer at Indian River Chevrolet in Florida.

Even though I lost touch with Frank, he was always a wealth of information when we spoke.

Sorry to hear he has passed and I hope all his car treasures go to a good home where they are appreciated as much as Frank cared for them.

No way! Frank was always a fun guy to talk to. Godspeed.

Yes, I agree; a wealth of knowledge. I sold him many parts over the years.

Sorry to read this.

Met Frank way back in my Camaro Parts Exchange days. Very low-key guy, had amassed quite a collection of rare parts and cars over the years.

Great guy! Will miss him.

Very very sad to read this.He was a good friend.
I first met Frank when you could see full eBay ID names back some 20 years ago and contact each other.
He contacted me after I outbid him in an auction, and asked if I would sell that to him.I told him no,but would guide him to another if I see another one.Years later I did & notified him.He was very grateful and we struck up a small friendship through the internet.
Both of us sharing our collection & finds with each other for years after that.
Rest In Peace Frank. :(

I too was saddened to hear about Frank's passing. Like other's have said he was a great guy and a wealth of knowledge. Always willing to share that knowledge if I asked. If Frank was interested in something on ebay, I knew I was never going to beat his high bid. He was one serious collector. Frank went to a lot of trouble to help me out with scans of his rarest Trans-Am racing programs and also let me come up to his place a couple of times to take pictures of many of his rare parts so I could share them with others on the CRG Camaro Trans-Am forum page. He was a real quality person and he will be missed but not forgotten.

Rest in Peace Frank. Great guy that loved Camaro's. Frank and WorkinProgress are the two most obsessed with rare Camaro parts guys I have come across in my 40 plus years of screwing with these things.

I have just noticed the post that Frank had passed away. I befriended him through ebay many years ago and through Hemmings Motor News before that! I purchased many items from him over the years as he and I had similar interests in 1969 Camaros. I had heard that over many years he was the primary caretaker of his mother who had a long term illness. God Bless him. He will definitely be missed. RIP, Frank.

So sad to hear about Frank. I have been assisting author Duncan Brown on his new book, and had connected Duncan with Frank several months ago regarding Frank's Indian River cars and knowledge of that dealership. As I understand the book is just going to print now, so while it is great that Frank was able to share his wisdom for this project it's a shame he won't be able to see his efforts featured in print. RIP Frank.
