For more info google HSV Australia Camaro. If you google just HSV you will find out more about Herpes than you ever needed to know.

There is a long history of RHD conversions down here, that video shows what is involved these days to properly convert a vehicle that will come with a full factory warranty, and why it is so costly to do so. HSV also converts the Silverado 1500, 2500 and 3500 trucks. Buddy of mine still has a '98 Suburban that he bought new RHD here, although those wear Holden badges not Chevy.
Unfortunately GM appears to have no intention of engineering the Camaro for both LHD and RHD from the factory, and so the Mustang is seeing great popularity down here as a factory RHD model, very much cheaper than the locally-converted Camaro which annoyingly is still only offered as the pre-2019 model.......

Why bother?? There are RHD vehicles in Australia. Is it a law for new cars? I had an Austin mini LHD that I drove for years in the states. I can’t imagine the costs for that conversion.

Why bother? All new vehicles sold in Australia are RHD. However some states permit imported LHD used vehicles to remain LHD, especially if they are pre-1989. Hence the rapid increase in the numbers of US LHD vehicles imported here over the last 10 years or so.
Previously LHD vehicles were only allowed to be imported and registered in most states if they were converted, which was very expensive - intended to 'protect' the domestic car manufacturers from cheap imported alternatives.......
Regarding the Camaro, Silverado etc that are still being brought in LHD and converted to RHD, those are models that are not available from the factory as RHD and so there is a small market here for people who are prepared to pay the significant additional cost to get their choice of vehicle, and legally register it.
