1970 Canadian Built Chevelle Extremely Documented

This is my first post. Hope this the right section to post.
In 1997 I began a search for a 1970 Chevelle SS. Found one in HMN. Talked to the owner and she said...It's 8K firm. Offered her $7,955.00 because according to her husband it needed the cowl induction valve. Her husband said, "That's your problem." Paid the 8K and drove the chevelle from MA to VA and it ran like a champ. They had not stepped on the gas hard enough to make the cowl induction open.
Unless proven wrong this is the best documented Chevelle there is. Documentation includes:
(1) Retail Order for a motor vehicle form
(2) Invoice
(3) 3 Line Tags (Canadian for built sheets)
(4) GM of Canada proof of options
(5) Receipts for paying it cash
(6) Original Window Sticker
(7) Receipt for paying MA taxes
(8) Maitenance records from May of 1970 to the day it was sold in 1997.
Mileage for this Chevelle has been documented from 5.1 miles until today. A computer generated form from 1970 show how the owner documented the mileage. A log book was used to document the mileage, and the following information was logged in:
(1) Date
(2) Mileage
(3) Price per gallon
(4) Amount purchased
(5) Octane of gasoline puchased
(6) Location of gas station
(7) Any repairs performed on the Chevelle.
Ownwer clearly remembers throwing away the POP, but there are seven POPs swiped on warranty repairs and the POP information is clear as day light.

Currently Chevelle is going a full frame restoration. All parts are correct and plated accordingly.
Must of the Maryland Chevelle Club guys have seen the documentation, to include Al Galdi, Bill Rose, Rick E., Chuck Hanson, Chris White, and others.

Here is a link to the resto.

Thanks for the welcome...guys. I have been buying and selling Chevelle/Camaro parts to be able to bring some additional income to help with the restoration. Might become a member so I can sell some parts here. I'm already making plans to attend the show in Chicago. Had to cancell this year due to wife partial knee replacement.

Just an update. Still going at it slowly, but surely. Lots of quality parts installed on this chassis, along with an extensive amount of date coded parts.

Amazing attention to detail...very nice

I have a question...did BB Chevelles come with that 4 blade fan ?? I always thought they had a clutch fan...just curious.

Re: 1970 Canadian Built Chevelle Extremely Documented

Yes,hydraulic liftered engines got the 4 blade as std.Unless ordered with A/C,then they received the 7 blade w/clutch.
L-78 & LS-6 came std. with 7 blade w/clutch.

Re: 1970 Canadian Built Chevelle Extremely Documented

Thank you for the kind comments, guys.

I've being collecting parts since 1997 when I bought it. Carb, alternator, distributor, p/S pump, fuel pump, thermostat housing, starter, water pump, 4 blade fan, manifolds, all pulleys and brackets are 100% date coded. These parts have not been cheap by any means.

Most difficult to find were the shock$$$$, they are currently being restored by Dan. Should be done by next week. Lots and lots of other correct date coded parts throughout the chassis. Amazing you can find part numbers or stamping on the smallest parts.

Did you guys noticed the rear upper control arms...they have two holes each. Seems to be a Canadian difference from those built in the US.

Next in line buy tires and mount them on a set of October 69 AO wheels. Unfortunately Uniroyal Tiger Paws are not reproduced, so it will either be Goodyear or Firestones. Then re-chrome 1/4 inch deep center caps to go along with a set of NOS trim rings. Last add all decals. Hope to have it ready for next year Maryland Chevelle Club show.

I love the Gardner exhaust, did you notice the no part# exhaust tips. System fits perfectly on the chassis. I got the ones with the turbo mufflers. Kudos to Eric and his Gardner Exhaust Team.

Have to thank Billy's Hot Rod and Performance for his work on the chassis from disassembling, sanding, painting, and assembling. Rick, did the front end. Have to love the markings. Doug Yoder for his assistance with paints and supplies. Chris W. with parts and part #s.

----You are doing great!!! I would recommend the Goodyears as they are at least closer to the original style then the Firestones......Bill S

So body back on the chassis for test fitting doors, hood, fenders, etc. Once fitting has been completed back off the chassis. The reason for the door hinges pic is there have been occasions when points have been deducted when cars have been judged. Judge claims not painted...owner yes they were painted. Clearly these have the original paint. Having a friend restore then.
Funny feeling...it actually looks like a car.

I think some judges still have some learning to do, they don't know everything... Keep the pics coming.

I'm not sure I understand this comment. Some judges claim the door hinges are not painted?

I don't see how they could not be painted, as the doors were hung in the body shop and in place when the car went through the paint process.

I agree with Keith, my original paint 69 Camaro has the hinges painted body color. I have never witnessed a 60s GM car that did not have them body color.
