1972 Dodge Demon GSS

"Mr. Norm, ever the performance promoter, rightly figured the low-compression 340 was ripe for forced induction. Just pack more air into the manifold and feed in extra fuel, and you'd be good for one last go-round. So this juvenile delinquent was further corrupted by a centrifugal supercharger, supplied by Joe Granatelli and installed by hot-shoe Gary Dyer. With a beltdriven Paxton puffer, plus a modified fuel pump and pressure regulator, the output ballooned to a somewhat respectable 360 horses. Compared with its fellow gangstas, that number might seem a bit like bringing a knife to a gunfight. But there was a key formula in its favor: the power-to-weight equation. Like the L79-powered Chevy II, the Demon was a cookie tin stuffed with trouble. Stomp the go-pedal, and you could catch those burly big-blocks napping at the line."

Thought you would all appreciate this car. I never saw one before.

Yes, in 71 the Mr. Norm GSS Demon had 3x2 carburetion on the 340 and in 72 they went to the supercharger. Nice car!

I'm a big 71-72 Demon fan. Kind of like the Duster and Dart's cooler, meaner cousin (in looks anyway). But, all 3 are awesome with a 340, 440 or Hemi.

Anybody know if this was a 340-275HP engine with 3 deuces fitted or was it the 1970 TA-AAR engine?

The 1971 GSS was a comprehensive package based on the Demon 340. The transformation began with the installation of a high-rise 1970 Six Pack-style intake manifold with triple Holley 2-barrel carburetion and an aluminum Ford Tri Power air cleaner, competition-grade fuel and oil pumps and performance oil filter.
