69 A Body power disc brakes

Don't ask me why, but I was thinking about this the other night Maybe I was testing my senior brain

Standard on the Chevelle SS and optional on the GTO. What about 442 and GS 400?

Enquiring mind wants to know.

Don,

Nice to see you on here :)

Remember the Oldsmobiles and Buicks were Top of the Food Chain, you could order Power Disk and Power Drum Brakes on them :)

If they were the top of the food chain why weren't power disc brakes standard equipment on their performance models?

Only the Chevy SS models got standard PFDB with the exception of the Z/28. It's one of those "GM Mysteries:"

In 1970 why did the Buick GS 455 have optional 15" 60 series tires while the 442, GTO and Chevelle SS did not?

In 1970 why is the Chevelle SS restricted to F70x14 tires while the GTO, GS 455 and 442 got G70x14?

Why did Buick still offer redline tires on their GS 455 in 1970?

The 1969 Hurst/Olds used F60x15 RWL tires as STD equipment. Why were they never offered as an option on the 1970 to 1972 442?

In 1967 when Buick offered it's "junior muscle car" the GS 340, why wasn't the 4 speed manual trans made an option?

Dan and Bill - Ya, it's been a while for me. I'm doing fine except for the usual old age crap.

Lee - some of the same questions I often wondered about.

The 1970 GTO did not have an option for 15" wheels or 60 series tires.

OOPS! My bad. You are correct. Edited post to reflect change. Thank you for the correction.
