Opinions on trim tag/ stamps
 

Hello this is a car that I am looking at. It has been in pieces and in a garage for 35 years So I am quite certain everything is assembly line but you never know. My concern is the engine assembly date is very close to the trim tag date and I know this is being discussed here in another forum. 03E trim tag with the engine assembly date VO327DZ. The other concern is that CRG puts this serial number into April but it is so close. Hopefully the pics are clear enough to come to a conclusion. The seller is 75 and has nothing to hide. Everything looks legit to me, I would like to see a clearer photo of the engine stamp.

Any stamping pics of the tranny and rear axle?

The trim tag and engine stamping look ok.

N624760 was final-assembled on or about April 2, 1969. DZ engine date range for that time frame was March 10-March 27. 03E spanned the shutdown of Camaro production at Norwood April 4-13; later cars usually have the later engine dates.

I see nothing to worry about in the pics. If you buy the car, please resist the urge to add options it was not built with, Z21 & Z22 in particular. I speak with many serious buyers for '69s and that is universally despised. X77 cars with added style trim or Rally Sport will not be considered.

I feel the same way about X66 & X55 cars...Joe

I was guilty of this in 1982. Part of the reason I'm redoing it today. Spoilers & ducted hoods where they weren't there before also...Joe

Thank you for the replies. I will post transmission and rearend soon. The car is in pieces and they are scattered everywhere. I have not seen the car in person yet but hopefully will see it this weekend. I wanted to post these pics before I make the trip and waste my time. Again very much appreciated Yenko members! Shane.

Everybody back in the day added stuff to there cars. They saw a Camaro with trim or what ever they didn't have, but liked on other Camaros and went to there local Chevy Dealer to purchase and install. I see alot of Z28's with X33 trim on a X77 cars because it look's better. The way I look at it, this is what was done over the years with so many different owners and if your car is not restored and still a pretty original car, then leave it as is. It's still a original Z/28 or SS car. If you are restoring a car with added stuff that shouldn't be there, then by all means, remove it and put back the way it should.
