I have a customer's 70 camaro in my shop. We are wondering if the hood on the car could be a Motion Camaro hood. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Lee

I think there were two differant styles. Not sure but I think yours is the first style with the scoop further forward. Hopefully one of the experts will chime in.

It is hard to tell who made the hood because there were many companies making them other then MP

MP sold the L88 style hood for many years and the construction techniques changed over time

that hood looks to have a molded underside panel not the rough looking finish of the early hoods

Looks like we have the same hood. I do know that this hood is at least 30 years old.

Looks different to me. In the front corners the inner structure is much different.

Realistically, probably 30 companies made those hoods...maybe more.

Most of the early ones until mid to late 70's were made with a chopper gun(fiberglass sprayed-all rough underneath) and the smooth undersides ones were later when people demanded better construction. Chopper gun hoods after a few hot summers the fiberglass weave could be seen on the outside of the hood and had warping issues. Companies then went to hand laid with matted construction which was 100% stronger

I was told by Joel he used Manufacturers Associates/Fastglass/Legendary (same company over the years) a lot but bought hoods from whoever had the best price or had them in stock.

I did buy a Motion Vega L-88 hood from Joel-legendary early 90's and it had a small M molded in and he said he did this later on so if there was a problem after the hood was painted etc he would know it was his hood.I bought it from Joel but it came drop shipped from Legendary out of PA.
