Dry ice blasting
 

Has anyone used this method to remove at all ?????? They say it will remove grime ,grease etc without taking of the original paint underneath the grease. Will it take off the under coating ???? I have done some research on this and have been getting conflicting answers.

It's very interesting to me. I too would like to know more. I worry about preserving the surfaces, marks, and small details of the original cars. When I inquired about the equipment, it looked like it was around a 30k investment.

Deja-vue. I was watching This Old House on Roku yesterday, and they were rebuilding a home in Dorchester MA that had some fire damage to it. They brought in a company to get rid of the lightly charred wood and soot. The guy points the nozzle at the black wood and presto, it becomes brand new looking wood. The dry ice is 100 below zero and about the size of grains of white rice. It came out of the gun at 1000 MPH.

They had to use a large fan to suck the air out where they were working as it instantly turned into a black fog as soon as the dry ice hit the wood. Of course being dry ice, they evaporate into carbon dioxide so the only"mess" is what you are removing.

Joe it will take off undercoating. Your Z28 underbody would come out amazing! I will see if I can get some before and after pic of undercoating removed.

Thanks Steve would like to see it before and after. I have call the company that makes the unit they said yes, but talked to a couple company’s that do commercial work ,they said now. The units are pretty expensive .

Thanks Lee Yes saw it on eBay and have been talking to the seller. Dry ice is about .50 cents a pound but you have to by pellets. If I could round up 10 or 15 cars that would won’t to do the blasting. I’d pulley the trigger and buy it !!!!!!!!!!!
