Joe, I'll have to recheck my source, but, the story was told with much certainty, and, it sure looks like it to me.

Jeff, based on the setup with the tunnel ram, etc., I'd have to guess high 10s/low 11s. Feel free to correct me with facts though.

Re: December '04 Feature Car

Was the rear spoiler in the B&W pics the Yenko produced glass lid with integral spoiler? There were at least two '68's with this option, including the first '68 YS-8002 which was indeed Corvette Bronze, and a Demo car. Is it possible this Demo car did tour time in Florida, since it was Fred Eggers Demo car and based out of Atlanta.

Yes, it has the glass decklid with intergral spoiler, and yes, I'm also almost certain it is the car you speak of.

Re: December '04 Feature Car

Yes thats the 002 car. It still has the spoilered deck lid and original hood. And it was the car Eggers used and was a southern demo car. Once finished, it was returned to Yenko. A local fellow bought the car and soon sold it to another local guy that has had the car ever since. We have just started the restoration of this car and it has many one of a kind items. It will be at SCR9 is my guess. Beautiful car, great history! I love the Grumpy hood in the old photo too. Are the wheels Pontiac 15x7, or 14x7?

Again, a very cool car, and easy to understand why he didn't lose a street race back in the 60's. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Is it my imagination or do I detect those new T-3's with the triangle pointing upwards? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

Re: December '04 Feature Car

No Rich, those are original T3s. Pointing the arrow up was an old speed secret. It helped with weight transfer.

I did forget to close the hood though, so, forgive me for that.

Bruce - see early post on this thread from Jeff in HI.

"Mike Mahalo for bringing this 68 to SCR7. Being a person that is more of a 68 Camaro guy myself, I enjoyed seeing a car I had heard so much about finally in person. as for the color, Nice to see it back to what it should be but either one looked great on that car. Heres a little info you might like to print out about that subject as well. "

The 8002 68 demo/prototype car has not been to an SCR yet... it is currently in mid-restoration, but the original one piece spoiler/decklid from this car was on one of my display tables at this year's SCR. I'm pretty sure you even took pics of it Bruce. Hopefully next year the whole car will be on display. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Re: December '04 Feature Car

Hi my name is Bob krueger I am the original owner of the car in question. dec. 2004 feature car.yenko camaro #8016 ralley green. Jay kline chev. had 6camaros in Jan. 1968 3 green 3 light blue.(app. one tenth of production that year)all cars had same equiptment, same price $4438.oo, all m21 4 speedcars. Ibought one of the ralley green ones for $3750 plustax as it had 825 miles on it. pulled the motor 2 weeks later, made it into basicly an l-88 with iron heads with extensive head work an holley 3 barrel 1050 c.f.m. hooker headers and much more h.p 600 650 e.t. 11.38. Raced at northstar dragways mpls. mn. 6 races 6 1st place wins. Im the good looking guy sunglasses, white t shirt trophy in the picture.Next to the green camaro. now some of the b.s. All six cars had pontiac ralley wheels with trim rings. All 6 cars were ss trim, with no added guages. All 6 cars had holley double pumper carbs. Anyway I have alot of pictures of it when new, plus I have all the original paperwork, window sticker, purchase order, and payment book 36 payments of 93.00 month. sold the car to my brother for $2500 2years later,He totally striped car down on outside,no emblems,THREW AWAY hood.added more H.P. atunnel ram with 2 4 barrels andhis times were app.10.40 bottom 2 pictures or so. To much typing got to go. any questions on 68 yenko camaros (best year ss/rs trim and door plate.)Low production app. 64 total. Please reply Bob krueger

Re: December '04 Feature Car

To add to my previous reply,as the 1st owner of the dec. 04 feature car. I looked over all 6 yenko camaros that Jay Kline chev, had in 68.all had the same options and same price, except for color. ralley green, or light blue.no fiberglass rear trunklid or spoiler. All had the nostrils open on hood, all had the ss emblems on front grill and gas cap. the other thing Inotice on all 68 restoreations is the yenko badges on front fenders are located to low and a little to far right on the top of the camaro emblem. Also all 6 camaros at kline chev had black plastic 3 spokesteering wheels, with ss emblem in center. Not the wood one on the dec. 04 car which is incorrect. I at one time in my 36 years in the auto bussines worked at kline chev, in the late 70,s, got to know the owners son who gave me a chance to copy sales records from 68.Istarted going over these 4 years ago After many months on the phone with the state dept. of transportation and on the computer, tracking all the 6 yenkos they sold that year,(one was the one I bought that left 5) I finaly found one of the light blue ones, by pure luck. and bought it last year. can any one tell me the name of this color or paint code, asit was not on purchase order? The car had remained in minnesota all this time or I never wuold have found it, what I found out about the other 4 cars is it appears they were junked after bad accidents some with fatalities.(no surprise every 19 year needs one right?)I did. some help with the paint,I have seen one other car that color on this site Thanks BobKrueger

Great information Bob. This is one of those Jay Kline cars painted Fathom Blue, paint code - - and with the Yenko emblem mounted over the existing "SS" emblem that was removed. I had been told that Yenko never did this but this is an original paint car and you could clearly see the outline of the Yenko emblem under the Camaro badge. There were no holes above the badge.

Re: December '04 Feature Car

Bob, do I understand you correctly that there were NO spoilers on any of the 6 cars from Jay Kline? This car had 5 brazed up holes (all in line and not two rows I might add) that do not match a GM spoiler and we are confused as to their origin.

Re: December '04 Feature Car

Rick nelson, Bob krueger heres whar I mean all 6 kline yenkos were equipted the same, all had front and rear spoilers, but no fiberglass rear spoiler and trunk lid as some stated before on 2 of these cars from Jay kline chev in 68. the 3 blue yenkos from kline were a much lighter metal flake blue. the picture of the dark blue front fender with the holes under camaro is were the ss emblem was. Accordind to klines records and what I saw was 6 yenkos ,total inventory for 1968, no darker blue ones. that came from steve Kline owners son,and Ihave the purchase orders on all 6 yenkos. thanks Bob krueger.

Re: December '04 Feature Car

To 68Tom, you are 100% correct Island teal is the light blue on the 68 yenko. Just went out and looked at it again. Still have some guilt about what I gave the buyers father for it last year.but then again it did take me hundreds and hundreds of hours to find plus several years ,and there could be 2 more out there, but not in this state. you should try that sport, yenko hunting,it can be done. I can tell you the rules. thanks Bob krueger

Re: December '04 Feature Car

Memories sometimes fade over 42 years. I outta know!

We know the selling dealer and color for a fact and that is documented though the original owner has eluded us. Any help in that area would be GREATLY appreciated.

The car did not have spoilers from the best we can tell and the trunk lid has never been off. We are not sure what is up with the 5 brazed holes in the lid. No wheel well trim, has blacked out rear panel and SS gas cap, no SS emblems on the fenders as that is where the Yenko badge was and had another Yenko badge on the glove box, 3 Spoked SS steering wheel.

original owner 05-08-2010 05:17 AM

Re: December '04 Feature Car

Rick, done some more research for you and it looks good. holes on trunk lid where spoiler removed. wre you yenko badges mounted with adhesive not studs? I have told people that my new 68 yenko had a yenko badge on left side of glove box and ss emblem un gas cap they told me I was wrong, but there on the pictures when it was new. Does the car have front disc brakes only, does the car have an am radio,no power stering, pontiac ralley 11 wheels,140 m,p,h, speedo, and no other added guages, correct drive train l72 427 450 h.p. on air cleaner, fiberglass hood with open nostrils, and closes with hood pins and clips,m21 4speed,muncie shift lever, black knob,no console, wheels have chrome trim rings with y center piece, plate in door jam reads ys 8011. please call me with these answers. Bob Krueger At 952 9447246 and Ican clear up any doubts you have call a.s.a.p thank you , and I am sure Ican clearup any doubts
