Tom The Mongoose McEwen
Just found out the The Mongoose passed away yesterday .. he was 81
I have to say that since I moved to California Tom was literally everywhere. He was always at the races signing as well as other car shows and events.. Truly a man of the people. He seemed much more friendly than Snake was. |
His '78 Corvette funny car is my all time favorite flopper.

Yeah the English Leather car was one that really stands out form when i was a kid
|
As a funny car lover and also an old school bmx guy, it's a sad day.
RIP 'Goose. |
R.I.P. Tom ...
|
RIP Tom.
|
I had a picture cut out of a magazine of his Corvette Coors Silver bullet F/C on my bedroom wall 1981. RIP.

R.I.P. Tom. I saw an interview featuring
Tom and Don a few months ago I am happy I took the time to watch it. |
Is it true that Tom's whole drag racing carear was match racing?
|
Tom won the US Nationals in '78. I always wondered if Don lifted a little or somehow allowed Tom to win. Tom's son had died not long before this and a win at Indy probably lifted him up a lot.

A large portion, but not all. |

Snake has always maintained that Tom won fair and square and knowing how competitive both guys were, I wouldn't have thought either would have wanted it any other way. |

Not sure if any of you guys saw the movie Snake & Mongoose but I recommend it... It was corny in some parts but still worth the watch
