L82 Block Assembly stamp

OPINIONS?
Here are some photos of the deck stamp, the engine doesn't appear to have had the heads off... block and heads have same patina. Car had a cam in the 80's, (original cam and lifters show no damage) it has been driven 2000 miles since. IT looks like someone took a piece of sand paper to it at some point, it was greasy and I kept trying to get it off with a cloth and my finger nails... |
That looks like a legit stamping to me.

The car still has the original double walled swaged head pipes and the exhaust pipes are also factory double walled with crimps and a flattened D shape. Black with Black leather A/C PW PS PB tilt tele AM FM - thin white line tires.
FWIW the 1973 L82 with A/C in the vette and the 1973 Z28 with AC also used a lower RPM redline tach just like the 1972 LT1 A/C cars. 5600 for A/C VS 6000 for non A/C version. |

SPECIAL The BB 71 Black Roadster also says SPECIAL in the paint position. I believe that Mike's 71 LT1 with Original Black Paint - also has the ordering paperwork from GM overseas and his also says SPECIAL on the TT. There is another Black 73 with SPECIAL on the tag built C03 This L82 was built C11 |
----Wow! Very cool......Bill S
