repo or original bb smog tubes

5 Attachment(s)
I believe these are originals for the 1970 year. Someone up here should know. I looked for good original pics, but couldn't find any. I really never looked at any repos, and have not found a repo made like the one that fits the 178 manifold.
Thanks SYC.

Over 150 Lookers. Can anyone tell me one way or the other?

I've seen these in a several configurations. The main difference being the step down from the main air tube to the outboard individual (cylinder) tubes. In the case you show there's a cap and a hole that the tube goes into. I've also see those where instead of the cap the tube is stepped down in diameter twice and the outboard (cylinder) tubes connect there. I've also seen that end-cap where the pipe is basically pinched to meet the outboard tubes. The color on what you are showing looks original. I think many of the repops are a very dark green color.

Someone here will know for sure what is correct for 1970.

Those tubes are not typical of what you would see on a 70 BB Chevelle, Camaro or Nova.
The capped design was the first design to show up on 69 model year Chevelle, Camaro and Nova.
2nd design 69 tubes should be a 2 step tapered passenger side tube (which carries over to 70) and drivers side tube was the crimped ( or pinched style ) like what Phil is describing.
1st design 70's used the same tubes as the 2nd design 69's.
2nd design 70 tubes were 2 step tapered on both sides with a redesigned drivers side tube that pointed the long hose over the valve cover instead of around the front of the cylinder head.
The set pictured are 1st design 69's in my opinion. Look like real nice set of originals.

Thanks guys for the reply. Much appreciated. Does anyone know when the break off point of when these were last assembled. Would they be correct for a early Feb 69 Camaro? If not I really have no use since I have nothing built earlier. Thanks guys.

Who, what, where has the only/best reproduction TUBES ????

CamarosRus 09-15-2022 04:46 AM

Same question FOUR Years later ????

1) Is there a vendor that can correctly replace the flared 1/4" Tubing piece(s)
as I have several original trees where the main body is still good.

2) Were these BLACK ZINC plated ??

I bought my smog system from Bill Hodel & was very happy. He advertises in Hemmings I believe he restored original equipment.
