1969 camaro full quarter panels

My 69 is going to get full quarter panel, what is the best fitting one out there now. I know originals are the best, this car is not anything special and does not warrant real nos panels

My body shop just finished another 69 and used the ones from NPD and he hated the fit,

thanks Dan

If I was going to try using any aftermarket panel, it would be AMD. I've been told they are the best of any reproduction panel, but was also told they will take some fitting on the ends. Other people have said they fit very well but it's always about the skill of the panel beater who's hanging them. :smirk:

I concur 100%.....AMD.

I'll 2nd or 3rd AMD. I've used a few things from them off and on over the years and I've always been pretty happy with fitment that only took minimal fiddling.
I just received a Chevelle cowl hood from them today and it's what I expected. Very high quality for a repop. Flipping it over where all the detail is I can't visually tell any difference between it and the GM hood on the car.

I used AMD qtrs on my 70 Z project. My body man was amazed at how heavy they were and how well they fit!

Every piece of AMD metal I have used was full gage as compared to OEM.
The 69 Camaro quarters needed a few minor tweaks. One to the right upper trunk to panel gap. All the other chi neez metal is thin and junk.

Not wanting to split hairs or start an argument but a good percentage of repop sheet metal comes from the same place regardless of who you buy it from or who's label is on it. It is correct gauge (almost all of it is these days) but it's not the same metal. Most guys wouldn't notice the difference but a good, experienced welder/bodyman will tell you welding affects it differently than good old USA made steel. even planishing or shrinking an area where a repop patch has been installed can be a nightmare if you're trying to get it as nice as possible.
I have had good luck with AMD stuff. I had to cut the hell out of their quarters for a 72 nova to get them to fit...it's something of a crap shoot...but i've fought to get NOS stuff to fit as well.

AMD has been remaking dies as they go along and have propriety use of them. Those are the panels that fit better. On their website, any parts with an X at the beginning of the part number are still a generic piece and not their own.

The quarter skins I put on my '66 Chevelle fit very well and the left skin I just put on my '67 Camaro was about as good as it gets. I did have to move the bottom weld flange at the rocker up about 1/4"

Dan, unfortunately, AMD is showing your LH full quarter as out of stock. Summit shows availability of OER left hand side. I've had good fitment of OER floor pans, but no personal experience with quarter panels.

Don't know if it is true: but....

My buddy might need a quarter panel as well for his incoming '69 Camaro project. We will take a closer look at it after we finished installing the suspension from 4Wheelonline onto the truck this week. We'll check out AMD.
