Bill Hunter
It is with great sadness to hear the news that Bill Hunter has passed, and condolences to his family and friends. Bill was the original owner of two 69 Yenko Camaros. I met him at the Supercar Reunion in I believe 2001. He drove up in a unique looking motorhome (possibly an older Winnebago). He and his wife were just wonderful down to earth people. He was a true gentleman, who provided us with firsthand stories that had us all wanting to hear more. One story he told was picking up his first Yenko Camaro (orange) and street racing that night, subsequently grenading the 427 and putting a hole in the side of the block. He had it was towed back to the dealership, Gates Chevrolet and he traded it in the next day for a Yellow Yenko. He left a lasting impression on all of us that weekend.

RIP Bill. He always wanted to pay to be a paid member but I would refund his money. Just a neat guy that came with his Yenko to the reunion and blew us away. Also brought his orig paperwork and let anyone copy it that wanted to.

So sad to hear this. As others have said, Bill was one-of-a-kind and a genuine, honest salt-of-the-earth kind of guy. The world would be a much better place with more Bill Hunters.
Godspeed Sir! |
