Survivor nylon timing gears - my LT1 survivor.

After being told a few months ago on the NCRS forums that I was living on borrowed time - I relegated myself to change it -
Good thing I heeded their advice. 46k miles - only 19k miles since 1973 - check out this shredded nylon cam gear. I picked up NOS pan gaskets and NOS timing chain cover gaskets plus a new balancer seal - National Seal which was the same number on the seal I knocked out. - My original 7712 balancer has no groove, but the mass ring has spun on the center and shifted laterally to the rear by 1/8- 3/16" - so off for a rebuild at DamperDoctor. |
Glad you got that fixed! Can’t tell you how many teeth I have cleaned out of pans and pickups over time. BTW, not that too many would replace with the same type sprocket (actually, no one I know), but I have a few of these sprockets with bright shiny white teeth that are new or like new if anyone is a diehard, hardcore, “has got to be like it rolled out the door” fanatic that wants one.
