Any truth to this Yenko Prototype? IMHO

What says the experts... regardless there are many things wrong as far as the resto goes. I didn't think there were any Nov BE's some Nov BL's converted yes, but a legit confirmed Nov BE?

Excerpted from the Super Chevy Article... emphasis added

"After being used for design work, the car remained with Yenko apparently as a demonstrator for customers at the Canonsburg dealership, and Yenko's dealer network. During this period, Don himself is said to have taken the car to Tennessee, presumably to show off to his dealers in Memphis (Union Chevrolet) and Nashville (E.B. Smith Chevrolet). During this trip, with Yenko rumored to have been behind the wheel, the car was wrecked, taking a hard hit to the passenger side A-pillar and rear of the front fender."

"After more exhaustive research by Barber that covered six months, VIN searches, title investigation, and discussions with Yenko enthusiasts and experts, it was finally confirmed that the Camaro in John Miller's possession was indeed the first '69 Yenko Camaro ever built, and one of the very first L72 Camaros assembled at Norwood"

Seems to me some of this would have to be in an official record somewhere. The VIN would fall in the lost data sets.

No X-66? I would have bet it would have it if it was in the first 50?

A BS story. Even Hot Rod bought into it with a small feature on the car.

How did they publish N576444 as a know Yenko Camaro on the list? I see that is a Camaro with a fake trim tag, sold as a Z28 for the last few years.

We are to believe that Don needed a prototype for what, the stripes? This car was built after Don had already placed orders for 150 cars, I think he was ready for production without the need for a prototype. If the gold '67 smallblock/powerglide first Yenko received Camaro sold for over
$ 300k at auction, I guess its worth the hype for the potential sale on this car, true or not.

.... Is this the same camaro that is discussed here?

Is this the camaro you are asking about?

NCRS records begin with 587275 therefore there isn't a record available. This story doesn't pass the smell test.

Too funny.
124379N576444 was owned by a friend. It was a 59-59 723 Z. Rusty, but with original paint and interior, no engine or trans.
Someplace I have pics of it.

This COPO clown is 124379N549828

From the pictures supplied on the associated links, it looks they hit every aisle in Pep Boys and every page in a Camaro parts catalogue.
