AFR Gauge Tuning BBC
I just installed an AFR Gauge so I could tune my Holley better. Here is a video of the preliminary result. Any thoughts? Seems like it's going a little too rich closer to the top end. It's idling at ~14.7 and cruises at about the same. Would I want to change my PV or drop a jet size in the rear? I have 72/75 w/ 6.5 PVs right now.
402 w/ mild cam (#7 lifter tick...), ~9:1, Holley 3310-3 converted to a metering block; Doug's 2" primary headers (a little too big), Flowmaster exhaust, Pertronix III. Thanks. VIDEO: http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q573...0828_110438.mp4 http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/...827_095530.jpg |
Re: AFR Gauge Tuning BBC
Normally. YOu ll want the idle and cruise around 13.0-13.5. WOT 12.5-13.2. One could add 2 jets in the primaries to richen the cruise up a bit, than pull 4 sizes out the back to lean out the WOT. THat should get you close. |

Everything I've been seeing says 14.7 on idle and cruise and in the 12s for WOT is where you want to be. Why are you going so rich with the idle and cruise? I'm not saying "they're" right or wrong, just trying to figure this out. She runs beautifully at idle and cruise with no hesitation, popping etc when I open it up. |
Re: AFR Gauge Tuning BBC
Well with high compression applications. We find 13"s at cruise are plenty lean enough. If you re comfortable with 14"s at cruise thats perfectly ok if you re ok with it.
Running leaded race fuel. Anything leaner than 13.5 your plugs and exhaust tips will be snow white. Most people think we re nuts as is running as lean as we do. I was Just gvining you info on what i run amd how i set my stuff up. Happy tuning!! |
