ZL1 #59 headed to auction with no reserve

Sold Jan. 2018..."Hammered Sold at $700,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $770,000. With Reserve."

I think the only ones getting rich off this car are the auction houses.... or in this case, the auction house. BJ, again.

Thanks for posting Lynn. Anyone know which Virginia Dealership this ZL1 came from....”rolled out of a Virginia Chevy lot in 1969”? Contrary to the BJ description, the registry says Courtesy Chev in AZ. Thanks!

Did not have original engine when auctioned at B-J 2018; does now.

One to watch, for sure.

Read one story where the car and engine were re-united in 1971... at least I think it was this car.

So they were separated a second time and re-united after Jan. 2018?

Anyone know the story?

Those pinstripes correct? Looks off but I am no expert.

This is the former ZL1 from the Ottis Chandler collection. When the collection was sold off the caretaker/curator for the collection Greg Joseph was allowed to pick one car to keep for himself, or something to that effect and this is the car he chose. I remember talking with him when he was selling this ZL1 years ago. Some of the cars went to members here on this site early on, but many have been since resold. Check out the book “American Muscle’”. For the younger and newer guys in the hobby, Ottis Chandler was one of the early collectors to start chasing American Muscle Cars.
