Camaro drag link issues

I am replacing all the steering components in my drag car 69 Camaro. The old drag link has studs on both ends for the idler and pitman. The new unit has holes only. The reason I pulled the old unit off is the first owner had washers on the studs for the tie rods because they ran out of threads. It also runs into the center link while traveling. It has manual steering and a six origninaly if that matters. I hope I explained this correctly..... HELP!!

Thanks.
Barry

69 Camaro has holes only, Abodies had ball joints (don't remember off the top of my head if one or both) in the center/drag link.

Re: Camaro drag link issues

Ramair, I looked at the Chevelle drag links and yes it is the same. The problem is the Camaro tie rods set too far into the link causing it to hit the idler and pitman during a full sweep of the suspension. The other thing I noticed was the tie rods are closer together with the Chevelle link. The Camaro, tie rod adjuster (turnbuckle) would not work. Had to be shorter. Guess I will buy the correct idler and pitman arm. Thanks.

Yeah, sounds like you might have some mismatched parts there. Should be able to get it sorted out without too much issue.

Re: Camaro drag link issues

Parts are on the way from Steve's Camaro's in San Bruno. Maybe this thing will feel better at speed now with correct parts.
Thanks Dave.
