This past week, the NCRS National Convention was held in French Lick, IN. SYC member Bill Wente was presented with a special award for his 67 Corvette. Everyone knows Bill for his Chevelle's. Bill also has a KILLER 67 427 Corvette that he has owned since 1977. This week, Bill received the NCRS 5 Star Bowtie Award. Congrats Bill!

Bill and I were able to spend a good amount of time together this week. I had the pleasure to carefully look over Bill's car, and soak in the abundance of original bits and details of his 45k mile car.

The week was concluded with the awards banquet, where Bill, Kevin Dewitte, and myself were able to have dinner together. A terrific dinner with some of the finest people I have come to know in the hobby. Furthermore, Kevin's 9000 mile 71 LT-1 was awarded the 4 Star Bowtie award, along the Duntov Mark of Excellence award. SYC member Matt Barczak was in attendance of the convention, to receive the 4 Star Bowtie award for his 70 LT-1.

I was so smitten with photographing all of the cool details in Bill's car, I never shot an over pic of his car. I dug up this video on line, from when Bill was getting the car judged for the 4 Star award.:Can-I-Have-It:

Congrats!!

Congratulations to all you guys that took your beautiful cars through the NCRS system.
Richard Hudson from Houston, TX also received his fifth Star on his 1967 427 roadster, you can see it in the background of Bills video. This was a spectacular NCRS Nationals held at the French Lick, Indiana resort. The only thing that riveled the beauty of the cars were the two host hotels that were built in the early 1900's.

Mr Shuetz is so modest that he posts no pix of his own incredible LS5! Here he is presiding over the probing of nooks and crannies of his fine '70, on the way to a Star in all four categories.
Word has it that the chassis on this car has raised the bar to new levels.

Thank you for the kind words Tim, a good time was had by all! :beers: :beers:- Bill W

Congrats to you all !!

Tim, it looks like you did more buffing and paint correction since Rochester. The rear deck looks really shiny...

Is that Mr. Shauger, looking for spiders in the rear window ?

Haven't touched the car since Rochester. The paint on the car is really nice. The lighting in the building at the Nationals, makes it look better than it is. In fact, if you look at the pics of Matt's LT-1, you'd think it was a restoration. Frank Arone really brought the paint on that car to the next level (well done Matt and Frank)

I laughed at the comment about Steve being there. Perhaps it's Steve's stunt double??
