'63 Oldsmobile Jetfire factory Turbo, aluminum V8

Selling my Jetfire I had for 5 years, all rebuilt and excellent. Very rare, maybe 5 of these left with factory turbo, methanol injection, 4 speed, posi. If you don't know what a Jetfire is, you are not alone. Please read the eBay ad for a full description.

I owned many 68 and 69 Camaros, including a ZL1 powered 69 Camaro, but when I discovered Jetfires they kind of took me over. I am really impressed with the engineering of the Turbo Rocket engine. And talk about rare. Car shows are a lot of fun.

A year before the 442,GTO, Mustang, Barracuda, etc., Oldsmobile made a Turbocharged, Aluminum V8, 4 speed, posi, Methanol injected, 4 link rear, 2750lb car. Is this really the first muscle car?

"You can only look at so many Camaros and Mustangs"-Jay Leno after seeing a Jetfire.

I am in the San Diego area. This car won 1st place in the shows it attended in the last 2 years, 2 of the shows were AACA judging and it has been invited to the Concours D’ Elegance in La Jolla Ca by a Senior Judge for that show. But it is sure fun to drive it!

I forgot to put in the auction that I have all Factory Service Manuals, Jetfire Turbo Factory Service Manual, Assembly Instruction Manual, owners manual, magazine articles, ads, dealer brochures, etc.

----These Jetfire Turbo's are rare enough, but when you add 4-speed the rarity goes up, up, up! I had a 63 Jetfire with 3,500 original miles back in the late 70's. It was totally untouched and a beauty, but it was equipped with an auto. At the time I agonized over selling it, because I knew I'd never see another. Mainly because of the trans I pulled the trigger and sold it thru auction. Had it been a 4-speed I might still have it as I didn't have a huge amount of money in it at that time!.....Bill S

Bill do you remember the color or other info about your Jetfire? I wonder if it’s still around. We have a registry with about 15 automatic Jetfires.

----Yes,,,The one I had was a beautiful Turquoise metallic with a white interior and white vinyl top. I sold it at a small vintage car auction in the Chicago suburbs to a dealer from (I think) Missouri. If he was smart, he put it away as it was flawless!...Bill S

Bill,
We have one like that in the registry, it has 14,000 miles but is not running and the engine and sub frame were out. Its in New York but I haven't talked to the guy in a few years. In this photo, the car is on jack stands and the front wheels are just set in place. Do you think this could be your old car?

----It's possible but the color doesn't look quite right. I'll look up a color page on google and see if I can get a handle on the color.....Bill S

Shot of correct hood insulation with factory cut out for the turbo to fit under the hood. Lots of special things were done to the Jetfire on the assembly line. When a rare 4 speed was on the order sheet, the trans tunnel was cut out and a stamped 4 speed tunnel sheet metal piece was welded in.

New auction, this time its a biding auction. If this was a 69 Camaro, with the top engine, these options and special assembly on the line, like a COPO, it would be worth 6 figures.
Only one 4 speed Jetfire has ever crossed an auction block, back in 2017, and it went for 60k. It was a Frankenstein car with no original components.
I may take this to Mecum Monterey in August if it doesn't sell on eBay. All it takes is for one of these to sell for a high number at auction and it will be the next Bronco, 21 window VW bus, etc. The only difference is there are only a couple of these that exist.

My eBay auction got copied and put on a classified ad website US Classifieds4all. Ad is for about half of what I am asking. Don’t fall for it you will lose your money. Looks like the ads are mostly scams on there.

That sucks....I hate thieves!!

My eBay auction is back up. I think this car would do great at a Mecum, so that's my next move it it doesn't sell on eBay.

The 1963 4 speed Jetfire is SOLD and is on it way to be in a museum in England. I would have rather it stayed in the USA with an enthusiast but it didn’t work out that way. Not many people are aware of these cars and at car shows it’s the only car people really look at for a long time. I just took my 1962 Jetfire to a judged show on Sunday and took 2nd place behind a concours Ferrari 330. But way more people were crowded around my car all day then the Ferrari.

I went to Half Moon Bay, Ca. this past Sunday and took a few photos of this Olds.

I’m not sure of its authenticity.

69SSZL1 05-03-2023 02:25 PM

Yes I know the car. It was beige and an automatic. Converted to a 4 speed and painted non factory color and top. Very pretty car, was in the Ramshead collection for a while. Recently purchased by an employee of the collector. Must have been crowds around it.
