what an odd car. Had to be ordered by an old man. No power steering either.

base car..prob a sales bank car..cheap of the cheapest..radio delete too

Seeing as you didn't have to order a radio in it when brand new & you can't delete something it never had in the first place,it's more like a radio block out plate.

isnt an am radio standard in 71...

and radio delete plate is the same funkin thing as radio block off plate...

daverd 07-19-2018 09:31 PM

All was optional Bach then

marxjunk 07-19-2018 11:07 PM

dave i thought a radio was standard..i keep thinking i saw a window sticker or two where am radio was standard, on certain "level" cars..and i would think a monte would be an upper class car compared to say a malibu 300 (just an example..dont want to ruffle feathers..i know no 300s in 71 ) but i dont track them...

ive been wrong before,...i mean i just called a block off plate a delete plate....whats wrong with me..?

the truth is IDGAF..it was just a passing comment and for 45 years they have been called delete plates up around here..ive never even heard them called block off plates...EVER..til today..

No radio, 3 on the tree, manual steering, but a vinyl roof??? Crazy. Very nice looking car, though. Looks like the fuel gauge has issues.

It's a Delete Plate.....it's what I have called it all my life....and will continue to do so.
You too should call it whatever you want to call it :)

Just to add,not every vehicle came with a radio automatically back then.
Beginning in 1970,vehicles equipped with factory radios had their antennas embedded into the windshield.
I found this TSB pertaining to windshields/antennas in a old salesman's binder dated 1972.
Starting in 1970:
When no radio was ordered, nor tinted glass either, the vehicle will have a clear windshield and will not have an internal antenna lead attached to it.
When no radio was ordered, but tinted glass was,the tinted windshield will have an internal antenna lead attached to it.
When a radio was ordered, but tinted glass was not,the clear windshield will have the internal antenna attached to it.
When a radio was ordered and tinted glass was too,the tinted windshield will have the internal antenna attached to it.
