'71 Heavy Chevy, Factory 402/4-sp, Black on Black, Pretty Rare

Maybe the most desirable combination out there as far as Heavy Chevies go. I can't remember the last time I saw a black one...with the original 402 no less (keep in mind the seller provided no pics of the pad so I couldn't say for sure). Claimed to be original paint, too.

My dream car. It’s definitely on my want list. My first ride in a muscle car was in my uncles brand new Red Heavy Chevy. I remember it like yesterday. I still have pictures of it when it was brand new and unfortunately 3 months later in a junk yard after a street race went bad. He is the reason I am so muscle car crazy!!!! Thanks Uncle John !!!! Rob,

Please share those original pictures of your uncles Red Heavy Chevy :)

Yes I would be happy to post them later tonight. The junkyard photos are pretty bad. He hit an elevated Train “L” road pillar in the Bronx NY while street racing. Rob

I’ve been squinting at the poor quality photos in the listing trying to get a feel for the condition of the lower quarters. Original paint is terrific, but that doesn’t mean anything when it comes to rust... right Dan? Would like to see some closeup photos of the lower body.

Hope this car turns out to be worthy of scooping up. Doesn’t say anything about whether it’s running, and the motor is missing hoses, etc in the photo.

Right click on the picture and then click on edit. There should be a resize option in your edit program. After you resize it you will have to save it at this new size.

Update on this car. It was apparently restored and resold on ebay, and then wrecked some time last year. It just sold through Copart on 2/18/21 for a whopping $21300 despite the rollover damage and branded title. The first pic is after the first time on ebay, after it had been restored.

Wow.

Sad :(

This is what happens when these cars are sold to inexperienced owners.

It can be fixed, hope she gets saved and not parted out.

"Repair cost" $500."

That's a good one.

Doesn't seem likely it could be parted for a profit at 21k. But on the other hand, can it be repaired and flipped for a profit with a salvage title starting at 21k ? Hopefully went to a person who can do the majority of the work themselves and enjoy it when done.

I've been following this car since it was first listed for sale pre-restoration. I can't believe it sold for over $21k after a rollover!

It was listed for sale post-restoration on eBay but it didn't sell. I recall bidding got up to around $28k. I have pictures from all along the way, and unfortunately it was not a great restoration. It looked like it had poor rust repair done, a quick respray and interior resto for a quick flip on eBay. Orange peel everywhere, panel gaps weren't good, interior headliner already sagging (probably due to poor rust repair around the rear window). Hate to see a quick resto done on such a cool, rare car!

Here's some pictures from the wreck--
