Oil Can Collectibles ?????
I have misc PENNZOIL 1qt Unopened Cardboard/Metal Top
cans from the 1970's. I see EBAY prices all over the place?? Who might be able to advise me how to sell these on EBAY or ?? One example is GT Performance 20W-50 |
If I was to sell them on eBay, I would first check into what others are listed at. Watch if
they are selling or just being relisted. I see ones at $4.99 and I saw one at $24.99 so I would list a can at $9.99 and see if any lookers..if after 5 days then adjust price to sell. Some list theirs at a higher price does not mean it will sell. I list to sell, not to relist over and over again. All depends if you want to wait for that one buyer that wants one for his man cave. Also list other cool things on your selling page so atleast they look at your items for sale. Just my .002 Dave 67 Nova Boy |
Cardboard and metal are called composite in the can world, and are low end starter stuff..if a person got 25 bux for one he did good...theres always people looking for perfect mint composites to round out a collection...they are worth more full than empty..
join the go fish and oil can collector pages on facebook..its where serious can collectors gather...just the education is worth joining.. |
OldGas.com has many collectors looking too.
Wherever you go,you need to state if they are full of oil,or drained,as there are Diehard buyers for both. Brand/Weight is everything and I can't see more than $10-$20 avg. for that common brand/weight. |
Thanks, ALL my cans are full and in NEW Top Condition
BAck in the 70's when I ran NHRA modified eliminator I had Pennzoil sponsorship and this is left over stuff Ive been s 40 plus years...Yes Im a hoarder |
Too bad they're not Polly with the green parrot. You could probably retire :)

lmao...Skunk and Polly cans are hard to find, and they are pricey. I've seen them go for $3500 a piece. Crazy dough for a quart can but there still many I know who'll will pay that if they can find them.
Sadly, composite cans are not the rage Chuck. Full cans are only valuable to some people. Most collectors of rare cans want them empty for a reason. Oil is worth nothing and the potential for a rare can being dropped when it's full causes significant damage. I drain every full can that I find, regardless of how rare the can itself is. I've sold empty cans for $3800 and it didn't matter that is was drained. |

Igosplut, THANK YOU for your specific HELPFUL, Info
I am a EBAY novice, and have a ton of stuff I could try to sell...... I'm just too busy with "life" and wasting time All my Cans of Oil are FULL...I will let any buyer pierce the bootom and drain the contents. I'm thinking to ship single cans in USPS Flat Rate Medium Box(s) (Why should we have to resize every pic we have in order to post here when most other sites to include Corvette Forum and Nastyz28 have built in resizing evidently) |
