Vintage front runners
 

For a vintage look, who likes what when it comes to skinny front runner tires?

I have a set of the Firestone 5.60 15 front runners which I like.

I'm looking at the Pro Trac front runners from Coker. Which of the 2 they offer or any other styles of front runners do you guys prefer??????

They will be complimenting Vintage Mickey Thompson Cheater Slicks on US Mag Indy wheels on the rear...

I have a set of the Pro Trac 5.60.15 front runners mounted on a set of 15"x 4" Cragar fronts. I like the look of the outside tire face but with the inside wall, Coker leaves a thick step in the rubber which I was told is there for machining of raise letters or a side wall stripe which is left unfinished or uncut. It leaves this obtrusive 1/2" thick raised lip on the inner sidewall of the tire which looks sort of stupid on there? I called them and bitched about the design of it but that fell on deaf ears.

I then bought a set of the Firestone 5.60.15 tires which looked better but they too have this unfinished inner lip on the sidewall, although it's not as drastic as the hard edge found on the Pro Tracs. The Firestone's are more of a pie crust ridge which is nice tread design. I'm including pics of both so you can see them although the Firestone's are not mounted yet.

Still has this raised thick rubber ridge on the inside but not as pronounced?

I've got a set of the Pro Tracs hanging on the wall in my shop. I also don't like that step, but it's not that noticeable on the inside. They were not tall enough for my car, so I took them off.

I ended up with the 6.70/15 Firestone Tires with the pie crust sidewall.

I forgot these were the size I have on a pair of Cragars and they really fill in the wheel well nice. Upon researching the Pro Tracs a little further and the comment from Freddie, I realized the Pro Trac tires would probably be too small for the wheel wells. Basically a 26" vs. 28" diameter...

I looked at the 6.70.15 Firestone's but they were taller then I wanted for mine and also saw they specified a 5" minimum and 6" maximum rim width for mounting. I'm running 4" front wheels so I went for the smaller 5.60.15 size tire.

Either make a good choice depending which rim and what stance you're looking for. Post some pics when they're mounted up would you Rich.

I have two pair of nos Atlas blems. I think they are 7.10x15 but I'd have to check. Probably no one wants Atlas ones though.

Atlas are the coolest, that is what you would have picked up at your standard station.

Just to save anyone any extra trouble, those Atlas tires I mentioned are now sold. Things sure do happen fast around here!
