This will be interesting. It was bound to happen somewhere soon:

Well, I can't say I disagree with him.

I am in heath care and I am seeing what is happening first hand. If you are physically withdrawn from the current situation you do not realize what kind of snowball effect this virus has and how easily it spreads. Bill may save his business, but at what cost... hindsight is always 2020.
A couple thousand spectator show up to an even, it is a good possibility that there will be at least one a-systematic person. They could spreads the virus to a couple hundred people, those people take it to their family, loved ones and then to work. All that being said, Bill will have your $40 admission fee, so all is good.... |
Agree with Paul...it's not the right time to push the envelope.

I would rather not voice an opinion either way. Not my intention in posting. I am surprised that his insurance carrier is backing him. Seems like maybe a lot of potential liability here. Maybe the Governor will comment on this during the 2 o’clock daily report.

Why not have the races without spectators?
I will have to ad I did not watch the video. |

Personally I didn't see a problem with it. We were all isolated in our own cars all night. The closest I came in to contact with anyone was grabbing my time slips on my way past the timing shack. When I asked a track official about being open his comment to me was they didn't feel this was going to affect them and their plans were to stay open for test sessions, just not having any big NHRA events until it blows over. Made sense to me. I mean Arizona deemed golfing an essential business to stay open () and all the courses around my neck of the woods are crowded with groups of people riding around in golf carts and standing at the T's. If they feel they can do that through this pandemic I see no harm in drag racing. However, I don't know how the virus situation is in Ohio. Here in Arizona it hasn't been as bad as other states. |
But for that very reason is why states like Az. should be careful.
What was seen as a quiet safe zone, can snowball into a sudden hot spot. "The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases and deaths in Arizona continues to rise.As of April 17,there have been 169 COVID-19 deaths in Arizona,a jump of 19 from the previous day.To date, there have been 4,507 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Arizona. Maricopa County, with 2,404 cases, has the greatest number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Arizona." https://azbigmedia.com/business/covi...s-jump-to-169/ |
I believe the #4 highest way people die annually in Az is respiratory issues, around 3400.

I was a tradesman for 25 years. I was laid off every year. 4-6 months. People need to stop crying. And unemployment is way easier. You sit at home and call it in.
