Clean with soft brush and remove by cutting glue with razor knife. Go slow and easy don't hurry. Use magnifing glasses if necessary.

Leave it on the tank. Take a good pic of it. Cover it with plastic.

Re: Removing tank sticker (68/72 vette)
I wouldn't advise putting plastic over the tank sticker. A friend and I pulled the tank of his 68 435 car to find a fairly legible tank sticker. He covered a large area of the tank with plastic and put the tank in his garage on a shelf. A couple years later he uncovered it to find the sticker deteriorated beyond reading. Talk to a document specialist or library employee first. Hope this helps

Because their is no vin# on the tank sticker, photo and/or video evidence of the tank removal would be a big plus if you aren't past that point.

Paper Chemistry was not very good nor was it aimed at creating archival records in the late 60's... it was acid based, which is why the paper yellows and gets brittle with age.
It must be neutralized in order to keep it from deteriorating any further... KEEP it out of the light... Light also causes it to decompose quicker. |
