I was fortunate to meet Phil once at Mosport...a very cool and classy guy who was sucessful in F1, Can-Am, Sportscar racing and more..

I used to race against his son Derek in the old Firehawk endurance series,very nice family. He had a high end resto shop in Santa Monica for years. Most people don't realize how significant that accomplishment was of winning an F1 championship-he was really the first american to kick the euro's tails in their own backyard. We will probably never see an american do that again in our lifetime.
