Somebody knowledgeable or own a Dana Camaro?
 

Hello. If there is somebody that owns or is knowledgeable on the Dana Camaros could you please respond. I need some help on best ways to verify originality. Thanks.

There are not necessarily going to be any truly unique features that other day two cars of that era could not also have. Step one is get an NICB report showing the car was originally shipped to Dana. If that is positive then you need to start tracing the car's history though all avaialable means. No way to prove it without a paperwork trail. Good luck.

You talk about getting a NICB report like... its as easy as going through a drive-through. Any suggestions on how one goes about getting a NICB report? I'd pay good money to get one on a particular car.

What year. What factory is the car out of? most if not all of the DANAs were out of LOS

There are a number of members on this board and many others in the hobby that have access to NICB reports. To do it on your own, a good place to start is either your insurance agent or someone in law enforcement that deals with stolen cars. They will have access to this information as it is not available to the general public.

The only relevant information from this report is the shipping date from the factory and the dealer the car was shipped to. In the case of Dana, Baldwin (Motion), Scuncio, Nickey, Yenko, and other supercar dealers it can be quite useful. Since dealer trades did occur at times, the fact that a car was or was not shipped to a specific dealer is not always fool proof. There isn't any drivetrain info on the reports, so it won't prove supercar status one way or the other.

As an example, in the case of a possible Baldwin-Motion car, if the NICB report shows the car was originally shipped to Baldwin Chevrolet, and the car shows the telltale signs of Motion modifications, then at that point it could make sense to pay an authentication fee to Joel Rosen and see if the car could be verified through his records.

Most insurance agents will look at you like you have two heads if you ask them about a NICB report, they have no reason to have access to one so they most likely will not know what it is you are asking for. Don't even bother asking a police officer, it is not worth their job to get you info on your "old" car.

I even asked a Judge and she told me that unless she had an open case with VIN# listed on case report... to just Forget it... and it was for her Stepson.

Thanks for your suggestions. It is a LOS car. I'll see what I can do about getting ahold of an NICB report but not holding my breadth. It has the correct block but like you said unless you have a paper trail then it seems difficult to say for sure.

Does Joel Rosen do authentifications of Danas like Jerry MacNeish?

Anybody ever come across somebody who has access to Dana's records from 1968? Yeah I know dumb question as it would already be out there...

Do you think this is a Motion or a Dana car? Joel Rosen was in charge of Motion Performance, not Dana Chevrolet. Any chance of posting details or pictures of the car? There are a lot of knowledgeable people here ready to help with honest answers and opinions.
