Steering box stamp...

The 69 granny had the following date stamp on the steering box.... B 0849

Should I assume 84th day of 69..??? that would jive with production date of the car...what does the B stand for..??

That's exactly right Tom.
B represented the SSG assembly shift..A shift..B shift..

OK, then....the tranny stamp is C 9 D 11 D

I get the first part, but I don't understand what the second "D" is for...any thoughts.

Thanks Rick for the help..

Re: Steering box stamp...

Here's how I see it Tom.
C=Powerglide Trans.,from their Cleveland,Ohio plant.
9=Model Year.1969
D=Month,April
11=Day,11th
D=Probably a redundant designation for April again.

You're right.I forgot he has a 69 production model,not a 70.
I had 70 on the brain.
I've always believed they stopped denoting D-Day/N-Night shifts on these beginning with the 1970 production models..
