NOS solid lifters??
1 Attachment(s)
I bought a complete set of solid lifters off ebay awhile back. They are all in their original boxes (with the brown colored paper for moisture??). When I opened them up, I noticed nicks on the bottoms and what appears to be slight surface rust or blemishes on the top and sides. I took some fine steel wool and it removed it fine. There isnt any pitting it just looks like these have been sitting for years and the moisture got to them. Are these stilll going to be usable?? Pics are coming.
This is probably the worst one: https://www.yenko.net/attachments/390025-IMG_0902.jpg |

I also have a camshaft that has touches of rust on the lobes. Very light with no pitting just discolors the metal like the lifters. I am just sick right now thinking these are junk after I know I paid a pretty good penny for them.

Re: NOS solid lifters??
Not junk. Clean em up a little and use them. They might have had some surface rust sitting on the shelves at GM 35 years ago. Besides if your car had a warranty problem in lets say 1970 those lifters would have went in your motor and you would never have known it. If they were never used I think you are in good shape. But....if you are throwing them out PM me! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

the top portion with the "nicks" mean nothing, they don't touch anything ...
