Re: 1965 409 Biscayne
I looked at that car at Vettefest a couple of years ago and even remember when it was on E-bay in un-restored condition about three years ago. It's come a long way! Very pretty and the previous owner had owned the car for a VERY long time. I've always wanted a real 400 HP '65 Biscayne. The only 409 ever available with a stout 12 bolt rear axle.

If you find one of these without the motor...is there anything on the car that identifies which 409 came in it? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: 1965 409 Biscayne
------Im guessing the tachs redline might be higher on the 400, but that alone wouldnt be conclusive. Tom Deitz probably knows a bit about this car. Wonder if Bimbi can see what info Tom might be able to impart???........Bill S

Re: 1965 409 Biscayne
I'm not familiar with this car specifically, but from what I can see it appears to be done correctly. (a couple small details aside).
The block pad and trans stampings should be checked of course, as well as the cowl tag. (the car should be built before January) Verne https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif |
Re: 1965 409 Biscayne
It's a real JA 409 car. The seller of the pre-restored car sent me pictures of all the stampings as well as the cowl tag. It's a 12D St Louis car with a factory M20. It also had at that time the correct 7K RPM 6K redline tach. This is the only L31 Biscayne (or 409 65 Biscayne for that matter) I have seen besides ours.
