Sale of new cars and trucks way down in Canada

The sale of new cars and trucks is down 27.7% this month in Canada. Also GM is down a staggering 56.7% in Canada from this time last year!Maybe it's time for bankrupcy and restructuring 'cause I don't think the government handouts will work. It's just a waste of our tax dollars. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

heck Toyota's even asking for money in Japan. Things are bad, real bad all over. Someone I know has a friend that works in a large Mopar dealership. Said they sold 5 cars in the month on January. Cannot last doing that

Looks like Mopar beat GM for the first time in like 30 years there. Also beat Ford and Yoda

Don't read too much into those numbers, our Dodge/Chrysler store closed it's doors on Friday and the Toyota store is on life support, owner is throwing $80K/month to keep the doors open, says she'll close on June 1st if things don't turn around.

From a used truck dealers perspective........

Reduced incentives on new cars and trucks equates to a large price increase. This has sent used vehicle prices to the moon in the last 6 weeks. GM has cut off all non profitable sales to the rental companies in the last few weeks and this killed their total numbers for the month. The media should report the WHOLE news rather than making things look as bad as they can. Funny thing, the worse they make it look the less revenue they'll generate from advertising. I know so many smart American engineer/car guys that could turn GM around in no time at all. What's Obama waiting for??? Throw out the execs at GM and Chrysler that have shown complete incompetence and bring in people responsible for designing/building world class products at the big three.Ford's Mullaly deserves a stay of execution on the basis of realizing he had a problem years ago and started the turnaround.

Spoke with parts guy at local GM dealer yesterday. They sold 38 new units in Feb against a regular month of 120-150.

I tried to buy a Cobalt for my daughter in Feb, I had all the incentives, + a hefty additional incentive from my GM card they simply wouldn't deal, same old games from the saleman. I walked out the door. I asked them as I was leaving if they were serious about selling any of the inventory collecting dust on their lot, got a deer in the headlights look. The calls begging me to give them another chance tapered off after a couple weeks. She's getting my 3yr old Accord with 35k miles on it, should last her thru college.
